Gold Medal - Gateshead

This pub used to be my favorite and I would drive past other pubs to come here, but yesterday was a big letdown. The staff are friendly and try their best to make sure you have a good meal, but unfortunately the food was not up to par. I typically order the jumbo scampi, but when it arrived it looked overcooked, dry, and tasted terrible. I had to send it back and when they brought out a new batch, it had no flavor and seemed to be the cheapest scampi available. It's a shame to see them fall short after having had great experiences in the past. My partner also left his meal as it was undercooked and unappetizing. We asked if they had a new chef but they said no. The manager did refund us for the desserts, but this experience left me unsure about returning. I hope they take our feedback seriously and improve the overall customer experience. Gold Medal, you need to do better - serving substandard food is unacceptable and can ruin a family outing.

I returned to this restaurant for the first time since lockdown and everything was absolutely wonderful. The staff were fantastic as usual and the food was delicious. We are regulars here and I highly recommend paying a visit.

I have visited this restaurant four times this week and I have to give compliments to the chef! The food was fantastic, the seating and surroundings were comfortable, and the service was fantastic. Our server, Elliot, was lovely and went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience. The prices were reasonable and the value for money was great. I highly recommend this pub/restaurant. Despite the current pandemic, we felt completely safe in their hands.

Fabulous food, lovely atmosphere and staff can’t do enough. So friendly. Elliott was our server and was lovely! Really great deals and prices! We’ve been back lots recently! Couldn’t recommend more highly for lovely, hearty, reasonably priced pub grub with huge portions and a friendly atmosphere.

Fantastic food and service again and so kind for sorting out my mistake of pouring bbq sauce all over my ppor daughters food as I thought it was gravy for her sausage and mash ... sorted so quickly and kindly ..totally appreciated it as my blue light card was a pain to sort too ..such hard working staff especially our lovely waiter those service is always top notch and the lovely pregnant lady works super hard
