O Avo - Funchal

Personally I would have walked past this place, but husband really fancied it and I’m soooo glad we ate here. I had at least a dozen prawns on my plate in a delightful spicy sauce and my husband an Espitada which having tasted myself I can confirm was delicious. Chef was a delight pleased we loved his food so much. The cheapest meal of our entire trip €35!! Highly recommend you walk away from the fancy looking restaurants seek this one out.

Second time we have eaten here. Arrived today and wandered down into town and visited again. The food is very good, reasonably priced. I had to use a translation app as communication was a bit tricky with my lack of Portuguese and the owner struggling with English. I would thoroughly recommend this place.

Just of the main boardwalk in Funchal. On a quiet cobblestone street, service great, food fantastic and for the location you will definitely not get a better price. Come here all the time when in Madeira

Went here to watch the football thinking it would be a good atmosphere , no scarves anywhere and no atmoshphere annoying waiter kept trying to have a conversation with us as there was no one else in the place ,food was average at best there are much better bars

Great experience for football lovers. the man has every football scarf on the planet. very impressive! they just tell him the name of the team that they have sued, and he will show them the schalort.
