Bidrage med feedbackFood was great individually, however some did not compliment each other. Prefer a mix of seafood rather than mostly fish. Most course were too heavy on the palate and came right after each other. Desserts should be reworked on, they should be refreshing instead of being heavy(sweet, warm, thick) again. Love the presentation. Service was ok in general, too rushed with explanations, questions about ingredients could not be answered and not gotten back. Unfortunately they did not bother to check regarding my bills and came back with wrong information twice. Restaurant had tables that were too packed closely together, even when it’s not full. Noises of talking, laughing and shouting were all around, it felt like I was at a market. Would love to give them another try someday as the food was good.
A very good and chique dining experience that might be considered as one-of-a-kind. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone who is visiting the area of Cape Town. The location is beautiful, in the middle of vineyards and manicured landscapes. The driveway towards the restaurant is huge since it is on the Leeu Estate and they also offer accommodation, spa, wine tasting and various other high-end restaurants. Visited with a party of four people and chose the Chef Experience; a 10-course meal. Some dishes were better than others, but all can be considered of good quality. Unfortunately the tempo was really high and the staff kept serving the courses in a rapid pace. Ultimately we asked the staff to plan a 30 minute intermission after the main course which was no problem.
My partner and I went to many fine dining restaurants in South Africa and unfortunately this place fell short of our expectation, especially after the many raving reviews we’ve heard from friends. We had the full chefs experience for dinner, one with the karoo wagyu upgrade and the other without. Everything was well presented with enchanting theatrics, but none of the course truly impressed us taste-wise. The most delicious thing we had were the oysters, which were served while waiting for our table. The portion was also too small, I’m a small girl and I left the dinner still hungry, let alone my big boyfriend! Service, while impeccable, was too robotic and stuffy. I liked that the way the tables were arranged made it such that we didn’t have the other tables within sight, which was perfect privacy-wise. One and done. Perhaps next time we’ll try the more spice-oriented sister restaurant, Epice, which will likely suit our tastebuds better.
La Petite Colombe is without a doubt my all-time favourite restaurant worldwide. Having dined at hundreds of establishments across Europe, Asia, and America, from quaint independent eateries to prestigious Michelin-starred restaurants, I can attest that the quality of food here is unparalleled, truly exquisite in every sense. As a vegetarian, I was incredibly impressed by their creativity and the depth of flavors they brought to their dishes, catering to my dietary preferences without compromise. The service is the pinnacle of perfection. The breathtakingly picturesque surroundings envelop you in an ambiance reminiscent of a fairytale. I wholeheartedly recommend it in a heartbeat.
Best meal we’ve had in 20 years. Just wonderful food, presentation and service. A real team effort — it was clear everyone shared a common ethos and felt personally involved engaged in making and presenting the food. Very gentle, welcoming atmosphere. We splurged on one higher-end wine pairing, and one standard. The standard pairing was excellent. The higher-end pairing featured a couple of absolutely exceptional wines, in particular the ‘Tenacity’ riesling and the ‘Art of’ pinot noir.
