Shanti Indo-Lankan Restaurant

Had a brunch at Shanti with my wife on 4th June 2023. I had a masala dosa while my wife had a plain dosa from the Sri Lankan weekend fare. Both the dosas were crisp and papery and the sambol dips and the sambar went well with the dosas. The potato filling in the masala dosa was spicy and quite tasty. Our beverage was chai tea which had a unique taste of spices to complement our meal. As we were the first customers that Sunday morning, the service was prompt. The background instrumental music comprised soothing familiar melodies from the 1960s and 1970s. Overall, it was a very pleasant and enjoyable brunch. We bought a few take-away vadas which went well with our afternoon tea at home.

Ordered via door dash which usually good but this time a curry was missing. We called the restaurant they washed their hands of it. They said they did their job and we had sort it out or drive half 20 mins each way to pick up the curry. I understand things go wrong sometimes being in the trade my self for 25 years but that is no excuse for a bad attitude. We will never order from them again and recommend everyone should do the same. Guys you need to hire a second in charge who knows how to deal with customers.

Absolutely atrocious service tonight. The women on my take away order stated 15 minutes, once my partner arrived he waited over 1 hour for the meal to be ready. I therefore called the restaurant to complain and the man on the phone continued to argue with me back and forth essentially calling me a liar and making excuses. Instead of apologizing he felt the need to argue and be rude to me. We used to LOVE this restaurant, we have been many many times over the years however we will no longer be going again, a company like this doesn’t deserve service. We will be finding another Indian restaurant! So well done to the man on the phone who just lost 2 very regular customers.

While the food is quite tasty the meat portions are very small and the majority of what you’re paying reasonably high prices for is gravy/sauce. Not good value.

As regular take-away patrons of this restaurant, my wife and I decided to enjoy a sit-down brunch here on Sunday 12th January 2020. We had a masala dosa and a plain dosa. The dosas were perfectly prepared – crispy thin, with the right texture and taste. The potato masala filling was deliciously spicy. The accompaniments – sambar and chutneys complemented the dosas well. The weekend Sri Lankan foods at Shanti are a treat.
