Bidrage med feedbackI noticed this restaurant had a 4.9-star rating, so my expectations were high, and it turned out to be one of the best meals we've had in a long time! The octopus, halibut, and shrimp chittara were all fantastic. We're not typically dessert enthusiasts, but since the starters and main courses were so impressive, we decided to try the espresso semifreddo and apple strudel, both of which were delightful! The atmosphere and service were warm and enjoyable. It's definitely worth the visit—we’ll be returning!
I dined on the patio during a beautiful summer evening and had a wonderful experience. The food was excellent, the service was attentive, and the setting was lovely. The restaurant is located in a beautiful old inn in the village of Flint Hill. We received a warm welcome from the owner, whose husband is the chef. The asparagus soup was outstanding, and the halibut and vanilla chocolate mousse were delightful as well. I will definitely be returning!
We visited this restaurant on Father's Day, enticed by its positive reviews. Traveling from Northern Virginia, we drove about an hour and fifteen minutes to get there. The outdoor patio had a lovely atmosphere, which we appreciated. My husband and son chose the steak and lamb, both of which they enjoyed. Unfortunately, I ordered the shrimp pasta dish and found it lacking. I mentioned my disappointment to the server, who expressed their apologies but then immediately presented us with the bill. We were in and out in under an hour, and there was no offer of complimentary coffee or dessert. To our surprise, we were charged extra for bread, which consisted of just three slices per serving. We ordered two servings, and it quickly added up. My husband’s lamb chop portion was also quite small, with only two chops. Overall, it felt like the restaurant cut corners at every turn. We won't be returning.
Reem was the most accommodating host I've ever encountered during my travels and in my time in the hotel industry. Check-in was effortless with the keypad entry. The room was spacious, spotless, and beautifully luxurious, featuring a comfortable bed, soft linens, and a cozy couch. The bathroom was also generous in size, and I found myself wanting to take the mirror home! Our room overlooked the gardens and patio, which were beautifully lit in the evening. The restaurant had a modern yet comfortable vibe, blending casual elegance with chic décor, including oil paintings, rustic farmhouse doors, tin tiles, and special touches throughout. Reem and her staff welcomed us warmly into their home, and I appreciated the time they took to help us choose our meals. I opted for the house specialty, the ravioli, while my husband selected a seasonal dish. The service made us feel like family—perhaps even royalty! We enjoyed a delicious meal, paired with outstanding wine, and dessert that was simply irresistible. I savored the warm strudel with sour cream ice cream, while my husband relished the espresso chocolate mousse with frozen mascarpone. Honestly, I would have happily devoured both desserts—they were that good! The next morning, we sipped coffee in the gardens and took our time enjoying a leisurely breakfast. We explored Washington, VA, and Sperryville but decided to have breakfast at the quirky and delightful Skyward Cafe right across the street. It was an easy 45-minute drive to Flint Hill, and I wholeheartedly recommend spending an evening at the Blue Door Kitchen if you're looking to be treated like family, indulge in delicious homemade pasta, and meet a passionate staff dedicated to their menu and service. The Inn is a fantastic choice if you're interested in exploring the surrounding area and its wineries. Our experience was wonderful, and we can't wait to return!
The food is excellent, the outdoor patio is delightful, the cocktails are great, and the wine list is impressive. The menu is straightforward, featuring mostly Italian dishes. Highly recommended!
