Bidrage med feedbackVisited last night for the first time, we will be back! I had the lobster in special. $20 for a boiled lobster and 2 sides, unbelievable but true! My dinner companions got the ribeye and the prime rib, both were cooked perfectly to order. The strawberry mousse was perfect, great flavor and a great size. The crab dip had big chunks of crab. And sitting on the patio with Ryan Jewel playing was a nice way to spend an evening.
Pros: The food is consistently good. The chef pops out to check on your experience. They regularly have lunch and drink specials that they tweet. The atmosphere is unusual for the area (pro/con). It is modern and chic. They offer local Virginia wines and Wasmund's whiskey. Cons: The atmosphere is unusual for the area (pro/con). They haven't been busy when I've been there, which makes it feel a little awkward. Summary: I'll return for sure. It's not good if you want a country experience, but if you want city style, this place is perfect.
Disappointed. Disappointed is how I feel when I reminisce to what the Public House was and to what it is now. The ambience and atmosphere present in the restaurant is very nice and hopeful. The food, however, is a let down. Ever since the menu change, the food has not been as good and has only increased in price. Unless the menu is changed again and the food is actually worth the price, two stars.
If you want a 5 star dining experience, this is your place. A nice mix of old and new with local art displayed throughout. Great local brews, wines, and cuisine. You won't find a more professional, friendly, and helpful staff anywhere. The food was top notch and we fed a group of 40 in celebration of our 25th wedding anniversary. The accommodations at the inn where beautiful, clean, and comfortable. They pay attention to every detail in everything food, ambiance, and the accommodations!
I 've enjoyed dinner here with my husband on many different occasions. We 've ordered everything from fried pickles (starter) to four course meal specials, and always love what 's plated. I love the way the restaurant 's been decorated and the clean look and feel of the space inside. We typically dress more than we would a family restaurant, and always treat this as a date night location. Our dinners do get pricey, especially when we treat out-of-town visitors to the experience. Every once and a while they 'll offer a dinner for two special (find them on Facebook) that cannot be beat. A bottle of (good) house wine with two 3- to 4-course meals, all for $40. Our regular bill for two typically tops $100, and while I do enjoy the flavors and experience here, I think I 'd feel more appreciated as the regular patron that I am if they offered more specials like the one I mentioned. Definitely worth a drive out for the experience, though. You are sure to enjoy whatever you order!
