We stumbled on this restaurant as the place we had in mind was closed. The mum is the chef, the daughter (excellent english) is the hostess. Just a few very local typical items on the menu and cooked on a simple oven next to the bar our son (6yrs) had the turkey escalope and loved it, my husband had the Bacalhau à Brás (like a cod kedgeree) and I had roast back pork with rice which was sweet and tender and fell apart imagine the ultimate pulled pork!!! Excellent local wine and the whole bill was less than 50 euros for cover, beer, carafe of wine, water, 3 main meals, 2 puddings and 4 coffees. Perfect!
The owner Fatima spoke very good English as did her staff who were welcoming and attentive. My wife and I had 2 lunchtime snacks and 1 evening meal, the experiences were all thoroughly enjoyable. This was our 4th visit to Evora but only our 2nd visit to this cafe' but certainly not the last.
It looks like you 're part of the family! Everyone 's worried about your meal and your experience. We rather enjoyed it, but it looks like an amateur restaurant. I 'm giving it 4 stars but if you 're used to restaurants like Fialho or Tasquinha do Oliveira this is the absolute opposite. Few dishes, few starters, and few wines, but everything well cooked and proper amounts. we really really enjoyed the service, made us feel at home.
This small restaurant was great. It was some of the food we had in a 10-day trip through Portugal. The waitress was helpful, the food was freshly cooked, and it seemed a place more for locals than tourists. It was quite inexpensive. A great place to eat!
