Excellent food and for London really good value. We had the prawns and gnocchi to start. Both very well done and better than you get at overpriced places. Very impressed at the quality of the sauces and home made bread. Decent tasting Prosecco just for a fiver and good quality wine by the bottle all under £30
All you would want from an Italian restaurant within walking distance. Good value wines and service compliment the food. Best on Northfields Avenue
We are new in the Northfield area and We visit Madero on Friday night. The Menu has a great variety of dishes. The Amatraciana pasta was very nice and spicy and my wife's Swordfish main was very fresh and we love the sundried tomato dressing combination!!!! One of many visit to come
When I and a friend discovered Momento a few years ago we were delighted. I went several times with various friends, observing the gradual decline in quality and value. Then it became the clumsily named Montepulciano. The food was initially good but again declined........... Which leads us to Madero, its new incarnation. It has a much smaller menu which is understandable but very unexciting.. Steak and chips? You can get that at Wetherspoons. I was so looking forward to calves liver which they used to do so well, such a well-balanced dish with a nice little salad and courgettes. Now it is only with a port sauce. I prefer the more simple butter and sage but I ordered that. My friend ordered chicken with mushroom and cream sauce. Oh dear! A not very big slice of liver and a very small bit were smothered in a rich, strong, rather sweet sauce with lots of red onions. Such a shame to overpower a delicate meat with this sauce. The smaller piece of liver was utterly inedible as was full of tubes. I'm guessing it was trimmed out and should have been thrown away. So, result, an inadequate portion of a not particularly good dish. My friends chicken looked very anemic and the sauce was glutenous and not very nice. We were still so hungry that we had to have dessert . Both of these were very good. I was not going to have coffee, remembering the watery serving I had had in the past, but they had Espresso...they said. So, ordering a double espresso up came another watery coffee. I so like to support small individual venues and this is a very pleasant place but, sorry, we won't be back. There's no good reason to, despite the very reasonable prices They should concentrate on the food instead of wasting time and money on changing the name so often.
