Bidrage med feedbackThe owner, Liz, can sometimes come as rude, but it means good! She's a really beautiful person and a hard worker. Love the food also here, it cooks some amazing burgers.
I think many people are initially very impatient and self involved and that is why they have a hard time with the owner of The A Burger. Every experience I've had here has been positive, a few times she has given my brother and I extra food. Once it was a little breezy and drizzly out and she offered for us to eat inside with her. The chicken sandwiches are excellent and the fries and onion rings are delicious! Definitely one of my favs in Crestline and I take all my friends there!
Liz, the owner, comes across just like the soup nazi. If you come prepared, you'll be fine. Don't curse in front of her, argue with her or waste her time, and she'll treat you fine. The food is isn't amazing, but has a classic drive-in feel (which fits this former A&W stand) and a hidden gem; Try the root beer shake to enjoy by the lake on a hot summer day. And always remember: Cash Only!
Wow this place is crazy. The lady that works there told my friend who was obese when he ordered a double cheese burger and fries she said no i don 't think so. Let 's get you a salad LOL So odd to hear that. but at least she was doing her best to help him live longer. and the salad was less expensive than the Combo. Very funny experience.
I tried to persuade my nephew that "The A" likely had much better hamburgers than McDonald’s, but he reminded me that McDonald's is the only place for Happy Meal toys. So, we reached a compromise: my brother took his son to McDonald's while my dad and I dashed across the road to "The A" to order food for the two of us adults. While "The A" won't be featured in any Zagat guides, it offers cheap, tasty burgers that those who enjoy classic diner food will appreciate. I was pleasantly surprised to find that "The A" had a selection of vegetarian options, though they aren't the healthiest choices. However, I do enjoy indulging in comfort food from time to time. What stood out to me was the fact that they serve real malts and shakes—unlike many modern fast-food spots that use some mysterious chemical base that doesn't taste quite right to me. My dad ordered two cheeseburgers with all the fixings, one for him and one for my brother. He described them as "the real deal," made with well-seasoned, substantial patty that is grilled perfectly. He mentioned that they had the same great flavor he remembered from his younger days eating burgers in the 1940s and 1950s, and he was not impressed with the small, bland patties from those other fast-food chains. Since he wasn't interested in getting Happy Meal toys, he was very happy with his meal at "The A." In addition to sandwiches, burgers, and hot dogs, "The A" also offers some Mexican items like burritos, quesadillas, taquitos, and nachos. I had a tough decision to make; I was craving something Mexican and eventually settled on the burrito with cheese and grilled onions, although I also wanted a side. Neither French fries nor onion rings felt right with Mexican food, but I opted for the onion rings anyway. I'm a fan of them, and whenever I see them on a menu, I can’t resist ordering them. I'm glad I did because they were perfectly crispy, coated in a delicious and not overly greasy batter, and much better than the rings from those other fast-food places. The burrito was decent, though not much better than the ones I make at home using canned pinto beans, but it was still enjoyable. I think I would have preferred the quesadilla since you can never go wrong with melted cheese. Regardless, I was happy to find at least something I could eat, with multiple options available. The girl in line next to us ordered a basket of deep-fried zucchini that looked appetizing, and I think I would like to try that next time. I didn’t notice if they had French fries because my dad chose to have his cheeseburger without them. We all decided to order large chocolate malts, which turned out to be more than enough food for all of us. If the other items are as good as the onion rings, you probably can’t go wrong at "The A." So, if you’re out hiking, camping, or swimming and you feel those hunger pangs creeping in, "The A" is a great place to stop without breaking the bank.
