Bidrage med feedbackOutstanding brunch experience! Food was delicious, our waitress Gabriella was fantastic, and we enjoyed our meal immensely! Highly recommend the breakfast pizza (pictured) and the pancakes. Kid-friendliness: Gabriella was so sweet and friendly with my 7 year old son.
Some of the best food ever had. Rigatoni was great. The chicken was the best I ever had. Great service
How the mighty have fallen. During this embarrassment of a meal, there were times when I couldn’t remember if I was eating at Max’s, or if I had accidentally stumbled into Wheatfields and managed to get this far into a brunch service. I love Max’s, but it’ll be a long while before I go back. The reason I’m writing these reviews is because we’ve gotten complacent with food. There are places in town that still care (that’s truly all I’m asking please care about the food and the experience that we’re paying for). Hamlet, Comfort Kitchen, Trattoria Fortunata, 9 Miles East, plenty of others that I’ll be leaving much more pleasant reviews for in the near future. Max’s would historically be among their ranks, but after a recent Wood Fired Wednesday that fell short, and today’s debacle, no chance. I’d like to update this review and become a regular again, but I don’t see that happening if they’re able to keep a full house with this fare. In true American style, get em in, fill the trough, get em out. More food on plate better meal. Time to stop settling for more expensive, lower quality garbage everywhere. Quick note about the service before we get into the meal generally very good, but today our server was in a rush with us. Service felt cold. The food is where brunch started to hurt. Bland and offensively priced for what emerged lukewarm from the kitchen. Orange juice was good and tasted fresh, same with the fruit. Coffee was solid as well. Chorizo was pretty tasty, seemed like a natural casing and had good flavor. Eggs were poached very nicely for both dishes. The eggs Benedict and 3 potato hash were awful. What could have been good house Canadian bacon or ham on the Benedict seemed like cheap deli meat, the spinach was soggy and had no seasoning, the English muffin was fresh out the freezer (Max’s, see Walt Cafe’s breakfast sandwiches excellent homemade English muffins), and, having worked in kitchens, I know the taste of jarred red peppers anywhere. The hash wasn’t much of a hash, just deep fried cubes of potato and sweet potato. This might come off meaner than it should, but I’m done being grifted into paying these prices for something so obviously slapped together from subpar ingredients, and being passed off as fine dining. I’m hoping to one day return to the Max’s I used to know.
Pretty poor choice for ambiance on a Sat. Very loud DJ. Great for getting customers pass on the restaurant. When the DJ is not present, the place is great.
Love this place, I go with the fam here often. If you go be sure to stop to the bakery next door after!
