Bistro At The Barge - Charleston

Limited New Year's Dinner. Food and service were very good.

I made this reservation 3 months before the day in advance. In accordance with history, if you have the opportunity to reserve a table for a lonely, individual person, you will be treated as a class among people! About 2 hours before my reservation I received a phone call my home the lady asked me if I wanted a seat her bar or a table. I answered, a table, in any case. I'm sure that was a hint of how the evening would play. As usual, I arrived a little early. I noticed the preferential tables empty were somewhat encouraged. I noticed the tables were made with glasses that sprigs of baby breath, green, a rose, a candle. The table I led to, not one of the empty window tables, had a glass with baby's breath, green, no rose, no candle. My waiter was friendly and professional. I wondered if the charcuterie plate said that they offer a limited menu, this was the last day they were open for months. (Now a hint of how the evening would play. I ordered a Martini to be served the smallest Martini I've ever seen. I drink Martinis for 40 years. I ordered a 20oz steak after waiting an unstoppable long time was served a part that appeared as much smaller cost $78.00! When I finally got my check, my waiter pointed out that they had assigned their own bliss and it was $33.38. I wonder how legal this is. I've visited this facility before. In the review I wrote at the time, I mentioned my concern with her dress code both for employee cartridges . . . or lack there. As it became clear this evening, my proposals were completely ignored.

I guess New Year wasn't a good time trying the barge for the first time. It took a long time to get our food, and everyone didn't get their food at the same time. Our server obviously waited too many tables and had a hard time back to us. One redemption was the food was excellent when we finally got it.

The first 2 participants we ordered were not available. Waiting time for appetizer was longer than expected.

Food was extremely good as well as the service. I got the steak and my wife got chicken cabanara and both were worth the price. We got the skewers as an appetizer and they were also outstanding. I also got the lobster mashed potatoes which were really good but not quite worth the cost. Also had a great beer selection.
