The Terrace - Carlow

The restaurant enjoyed a pleasant atmosphere and pure, eating a tasteful atmosphere.

We were not allowed to retrieve our jackets after spending the entire evening here. The bouncer insisted we leave two hours before closing time, using closing time as an excuse. I would recommend every other pub in Carlow over this one. Absolutely terrible.

In this restaurant, two poached eggs cost eight euros, which is hard to believe. This has happened to us twice in the past couple of months. When we questioned the price, we were initially told it was correct, but then they seemed unsure. The manager was too busy to meet with us. To make matters worse, the eggs were tiny.

We went to the restaurant for dinner, and noticed that the prices had gone up, which we expected as it was meant to be a special meal. We were the only two customers in the main dining area, as others were outside smoking. We ordered drinks first, and the young girl who took our order seemed hesitant but eventually said it was okay. A hipster guy with a strange attitude then came to take our food order. He wrote it down, but then asked if we wanted drinks because they hadn't arrived yet – even though we had already ordered them. Our food never arrived, even though we waited for half an hour and there was no sound coming from the kitchen. We were fed up and hungry, so we finished our drinks and went to pay. The man who took our food order seemed disinterested and asked us three times if we wanted to pay together or separately. He only charged us for the drinks and didn't mention the food we ordered but never received. The whole experience completely ruined our plans for the evening. We used to enjoy this place, but it has gone downhill. We ended up going to McDonald’s across the street for food because the atmosphere was more pleasant. Will anything change? Probably not.

This is a lovely spot to grab a cup of coffee. I wish there were more options for brunch, but the staff is very friendly.
