Shingle Inn - Carindale

I had time to spend while waiting for my lift so decided on a treat at Shingle Inn at Chermside shopping centre. For just under $10 I got an ordinary coffee and a tiny little lemon tart. At least I had a fairly private table and there was water available. This could have been so decadent but was so very ordinary. When I compare it to the original Shingle Inn there is no comparison whatsoever.

$31 for a cappuccino a mocca 1 piece of carrot cake ans 1 piece of mud cake absolutely what a rip off could buy the whole cake a cheese cake shop never again

A group of 4 went there for breakfast the other day, it took 50 minutes for our meals to come out, none at the same time, all 20 min apart. Everything was cold! Not appealing at all when you have a 'hot' breakfast with poached eggs etc. All was overpriced for the portion size also. Staff were not at all interested or apologetic, just ignored us when tired to get their attention regarding the missing meals. Would never go here again!

Shingle Inns are becoming ubiquitous throughout Brisbane, and I don't say that with any joy. There's much to be said for consistency, but when the consistent elements are long waits for mass produced cakes served by disinterested staff, and top prices, there are better options in Carindale.

Read outside menu at Chermside and ordered eggs benedict which the menu said was $15.90 for eggs with ham. As I am a vegetarian I didn't want the meat. Lady asked which eggs I wanted and named the choices, I picked and spinach instead of ham. Was told charge was $19.90. My fault I should have spoken up, but I figured all day breakfast must be more expensive when had or if breakfast hours, and paid it. When I say down I checked inside menu and there was plain eggs benedict for $15.90, I was not even offered this choice. I guess this is how they make their money, by updating by stealth. So I paid extra $5 for almost two mushrooms that were unset my eggs and some spinach leaves. Surely not worth $5 upgrade!!! Rate was ordinary, very little flavor, looked OK though. Not anything special for the price!! Won't be eating here again, better and cheaper lunch time options available in this centre for sure. (Can you see the almost two mushrooms in photo???)
