Sous Kitchen - Burlingame

I decided to give the Sous Kitchen food delivery service a try after having done Dream Dinners and needed more vegetarian options. Free shipping if you order more than $200 worth of food, they will give you discount code to try it out and when you re order, everything comes flash frozen with dry ice (except dry pastas). Some of the foods we have tried were great some tasted just okay but for comfort foods like cheesy pasta/four cheese lasagna I wish it tasted GREAT, but it's just okay edible but can't expect so much when it's been frozen and then defrosted and then baked. Most of the items you need to de thaw about 2 days in advance. Biscuits were yummy but disappointed at basic mashed potatoes just had too vinegar for my taste and it's hard to change anything up since many items are mixed in. Sometimes it's nice that they have many items on menu for a long time esp if you like it and occasionally they add a few new items here and there. But with so many other options now with Gobble, Hello Fresh, Blue Apron, Sunbasket where I can make the food from fresh and has more flavor, Sous Kitchen is just okay. My kids really love to play with the leftover dry ice. Compared to Dream Dinners, they both have their pro's and con's no minimum for Sous Kitchen but then you have to pay for shipping if you can't pick up. Dream Dinners you can tailor the ingredients but you need to spend an hour or so putting it all together but taste wise, I would say Dream Dinners taste a bit better overall.

I am posting this review in October and have been using Sous Kitchen since June. To compare, during this time, I also sampled another fresh delivered box option and Sous Kitchen fit the bill much better for what I was looking for. All the stress of picking out recipes and grocery shopping for the ingredients weekly is gone! All I need to do is point, click and purchase. The meals have always arrived with more than enough dry ice to last through the day and defrost easily when pulled from the freezer the night before, morning of (or even after work with a couple hours to defrost in a water bowl). The other box option was interesting, but was a lot more work and in the end, we spent all that time prepping and cooking a meal that didn't fit our tastes. With Sous Kitchen, we get to select our meals based on our taste and so far, we haven't been disappointed. The customer service has always been on point when I've called. Assertive and extremely helpful! The old website was a little clunky, but the new one provides an quick and easy to use experience. Though, I am in love with this service, I would like to have more veggie options as a side. These are easy for me to grab at the store and prep along with the meal, so no deduction for that.

I stand by my old review 100%, still using Sous Kitchen to provide amazing, healthy, easy meals at home! LOVE the new website! So easy to use, so pretty to look at and such great filters for all my needs. Keep up the delicious food and fantastic service!

This company is unresponsive and not interested in helping their customers. I have a gift card that I have been unable to use for six months. I have reached out to the team several times and they have been completely unresponsive. The user experience on their website is awful and something is most likely broken, causing the issue with the gift card, but without any help I assume they're happy to take the cash for the gift card without providing the service. Meal delivery a crowded space with lots of options, even just in Burlingame, so I would encourage you to go elsewhere for a better customer experience.

I can't tell you how many times Sous Kitchen has saved me! As a working mother, by the time I get home, I don't have enough time to even think about what to make, let alone be creative. To save me from serving corn dogs and frozen pizza to my starving family, Sous Kitchen provides a just as easy and fast way to serve dinner. Bonus is that the food is much fresher, tastier and healthier than those boxed frozen meals at the supermarket. They deliver to my work and the is quite a bit of variety, as well as seasonal options. I'm very happy and grateful for this service!
