The Ming Inn is a restaurant that seems stuck in the past, but not in a good way. The decor appears unchanged since the 1980s, and I wouldn't recommend dining in. Instead, we opted for takeout and ordered boneless lemon chicken, salt and pepper calamari, and pork ribs in plum sauce. After placing our order, we walked to the nearby bottle shop for drinks, which took about 10 minutes. When we returned to the restaurant, we waited another 5 minutes before our order was ready. Overall, a 15-minute wait was acceptable. Once we got home and tried the food, we were pleasantly surprised. The calamari was light, crispy, and tender, while the chicken and pork tasted fresh and not overly sweet. The dishes had an old-school Australian/Chinese flavor but were not heavily battered or overly sweet. We would definitely order takeout from Ming Inn again.
Food was fresh, came out super fast, and not greasy like some chinese can be. <br/ <br/ The sweet and sour pork was pretty tasty, the honey chicken was good quality. Not a huge fan of the special fried rice, though I did ask for it without seafood, so that may explain why it was a bit bland. <br/ <br/ Overall, there are better Chinese restaurants in Brisbane, but this holds up pretty strong for Takeaway places in this local area.
I absolutely adore Ming Inn! As a vegetarian, my options at Chinese restaurants are usually limited, but I always find myself coming back to Ming Inn for their delicious Vegetable Chow Mein. I love that they are happy to add extra broccoli for me, and every bite is packed with flavor. At just $10.50, it's a great deal and always leaves me feeling satisfied.
What a romantic evening the boneless chicken with plum sauce is delightful
