Bidrage med feedbackMake sure to visit this hotel before the end of its Mad March promotion! I dined in the Garden grill area, which was bustling with people primarily enjoying their drinks. It was a bit noisy, but it added to the lively atmosphere. Heeding Joe's advice (one of the staff), I opted against ordering seafood this time. Instead, we chose the pizza bread, eye fillet, and bone-in ribeye. The pizza bread was surprisingly delicious, with a strong cheese aroma. Even though the place was crowded, the chefs maintained their impressive culinary standards, and the quality of the steaks was excellent. Given how delightful the pizza bread was, I’m tempted to return to try the pizza next time!
Our visit to the Normanby on a weekday was due to their enticing half-price promotion throughout March, where everything on the restaurant menu is offered at 50% off for lunch and dinner. Joe and I seized this fantastic opportunity and chose the most premium item on the menu: the 300-gram Wagyu Porterhouse, priced at $48. The beef was beautifully marbled, with well-rendered fat, resulting in tender and flavorful meat. This was the best-cooked steak I've had in over a year and the overall best steak I've tasted in months, earning a score of 4.5! Accompanied by chips (which I rated a 3.5) and a salad (or double chips for me), it felt like an incredible deal for just $24. The only downside was the Red Wine Jus, which was overly sweet and in excess. A lighter touch would have better showcased the fantastic flavor of the beef. Next time, I will ask for the sauce on the side. I also tried the Falafels and the Chicken Caesar Salad, which are priced at $12 and $22, respectively. The falafel were freshly fried but lacked flavor, leading to a slightly disappointing experience—they earned a rating of 3. The chicken in the Caesar Salad was quite dry, and it came with minimal dressing, making it rather unappetizing. After a few bites, I decided to take the salad home, and the kind waitress provided extra dressing, greatly enhancing the flavor. With the added dressing, the salad rated a 3. Overall, my rating reflects the average experience with the falafels and salad. Had I just ordered the steak, my rating would have easily been a 4. Next time, I’ll stick to steak and/or schnitzel! With great steaks, excellent service, ample free parking, and a 50% discount on the entire menu this month, the Normanby Hotel is a must-visit right now. A special thanks to BrisvEGustation for highlighting the 50% off promotion!
We arrived at the Normanby Hotel at 12.25pm for a quick lunch. BrisvEGustation told us of the half price menu yesterday so there was no time to waste. My usual dining partner was engaged with family duties so Meatballs And Beef Cheeks happily volunteered to join me. <br/ <br/ The restaurant is open planned, almost al fresco and we were greeted by a happy waitress. We were given two menus and were asked to seat ourselves. We walked over to the the attractive stocked bar to get our drinks then sat down to peruse the menu. <br/ <br/ I was tossing up between my favourite, the 400g rib eye on the bone $38) or the 300g Wagyu porterhouse $48). We eventually opted for the Wagyu porterhouse and Mr Meatballs ordered an additional Caesar Salad and a bowl of falafel. <br/ <br/ Our meals arrived within 20 minutes and Mr Meatballs asked me to share the Caesar Salad and Falafel. My salad was adequate so I tried the Falafel. It was freshly fried but the centre was a bit soft and lacking in flavour. The steak was outstanding from my first bite to the last piece and great value for $24. This chef is certainly a pro when it comes to grilling Wagyu steaks. <br/ <br/ After finishing our meal at 1.10pm we still had time for a chat before leaving the restaurant. I was impressed by the quality of the grilled steaks and the prompt service as Mr Meatballs had to be back at the office by 1.30pm. Thank you Mr Meatballs for your company and for sharing your Falafel. We will be back!<br/
