Cafe O-Mai - Brisbane

Took the sister in law there for a birthday lunch reviews seemed ok 1 had curry 1had chicken stir fry 1had sashimiturns out the fish won the day the other two meals were just averagewould i go again probably not to many other places to choose from

Robyn said the Vietnamese Café O-Mai was very popular, so I decided to head out early Tuesday and grabbed my copy of A Wild Sheep Chase so I'd have something to look at while waiting for the kitchen to open. When I arrived at 11.45am it was already packed and meals were being enjoyed. Monday we were going to have lunch there, but it was closed so we went elsewhere; Tuesday it was still on my mind. A friendly waiter found me a table and a friendly waitress rushed over with a menu. Grunge interior like something you'd expect in Brunswick Street, Melbourne, or West End, Brisbane, cafes, it's a relaxed and big place, clean, with indoor and outdoor areas and the fact it's popular with Vietnamese Australians says something for the authentic quality. Many soups were being had and other meals, but I was there for the crispy pork belly. I ordered it and a Saigon Beer - I appeared to be the only person drinking but wasn't discouraged. The pork belly was available with salad and noodles, or steamed rice, on its own or in a roll. I ordered it with rice and chop sticks, and it was delicious. There's also Italian coffee if you want it, and tea of course, but beer and water were enough for me. Excellent value, fast and friendly service, a fun place for all ages, just cross the Story Bridge out of the City and drive for about 10 minutes to the suburb of Annerley. I'm going back.

I had a delicious deluxe vegan Pho at Cafe O Mai today ... a hugh bowl of delicious soup chock full of vegies, noodles and mock meat (large size $17) ... there are lots of vegetarian and vegan options available ... eftpos payment available (small CC surcharge) ... staff are very friendly and helpful

A suburban gem offering fabulous Vietnamese food in true hawker style. Cafe is very popular with most tables full when I was there for lunch on 2 occasions. Staff are pleasant and helpful. If you want affordable casual dining and great food then this is the place!

Absolutely wonderful meal. The omellete was unbelievable and the Bahn mi oh my thankyou for wonderful meal
