Bidrage med feedbackTL;DR: This is right from the spring of life itself, Campos coffee straight from the roasters. It is good enough to leave it at that. <br/ <br/ For any coffee connoisseur in the south east Queensland area, there is little to no need to give any introduction to Campos. If a cafe chooses to have this blend as their brew, the chances of them at least dishing up a good cup of coffee are highly likely. On a personal viewpoint, if a cafe does advertise they use Campos then I am more inclined than normal to saunter on in especially if the right circumstances are a given. Even after all these years, the outlet in Fortitude Valley proves to be popular and for a good reason. By sheer chance and circumstance, I happened upon another outlet within the Brisbane area. This time, it was in the refurbished and revamped Gasworks Plaza that hosts a wide variety of outlets and Campos is just the start of it all. <br/ <br/ It was just after breakfast, and my house mate and I had found ourselves at the Gasworks Plaza all the way in Newstead. This is something new and exciting on my part, since I am not often on this side of town so many great options present themselves right here, and within the vicinity. Among them and right next door to breakfast 's location was one of Campos ' several roasters around town. Campos is always one brew that will lure him into a cafe. So put these aspects together: this is not the usual stomping grounds, it was getting the coffee straight from the source, and that source was the reliable Campos. That equaled a rare chance to go in, there was still a bit of room for an extra coffee, and that was that. <br/ <br/ There has actually been two times that I have shown up here leading up to this review, with the first one biding some time before beginning a Foodi tour and that was merely some coffee and nothing else. For this second time around, it was an opportunity that fell right into my lap. Going in two for two, both times the coffee stood tall on its own merits. Some roasters may have gone the way of the dodo for one reason or another; that statement is not something which can be said about Campos. <br/ <br/ Aside from having such a good product, when it comes to the actual source the minds behind Campos put in an effort to create an appealing atmosphere in order for clients to want to stay for a while. Right here, upstairs is where it is at where the structure that sort of half level with a platform having in the air. With a few choices touches here and there, they create an atmosphere almost reminiscent a factory. It is considerably cooler in temperature by at least five degrees, which would make this the perfect location for a brief break during the height of summertime. Plus, the lighting is much dimmer than most other place by merely utlising the natural light from outside. I can adapt to any kind of environment, but if given the choice the slightly darker atmosphere using some natural light is the big preference due to how relaxing it all is. <br/ <br/ Upstairs acts more as a cafe/coffee shop, while down stairs is a specialty store that focuses on all kinds of coffee paraphernalia. Right here it ranges from all sorts of beans and brews for wholesale to make at home, alongside the products to create the different methods of coffee right at home, plus even some t shirts got to show brand loyalty somehow. It is just similar and different enough from upstairs to create a well rounded environment that will attract patrons back for affordable, fresh brews that are straight from the source. <br/ <br/ The other thing to really wrap up the experience before delving into the product has to do with the service. They have it well organised here, due to how popular they are with the number of clients dealt with on the hour. It is via counter service, where after placing the order and paying you are asked whether it is having here or taking it to go. Both times it was to go, and they must have a good system going here as no table number or anything is given to you. They have several folks working at a given time, and via that they ensure the operations go very smoothly. Another plus about upstairs is they have the fridge with water bottles and glasses, free for clients to get at any time. This time around, they have done that self service with water quite well this gives them the equivalent of a gold star on the homework paper. <br/ <br/ This is where you want to go if you want to be spoiled for choice regarding coffee blends. They have so many here, mostly matching up particular blends with preparation methods. This selection will be on rotation, which itself warrants many returns. Better yet, they go beyond the general range of espressos and have all the other nifty methods of making coffees your filters, your pour overs, cold drips and all the ilk. If tea is still the preference, they have some of those as well. Add onto the beverages, the range of treats they have in the cabinet is something to behold as well. Just as much, they are a range of sandiwches, cakes, slices and the ilk. <br/ <br/ Both times, I couldn 't go past ordering their filter coffee. The first time around, the brew was their Blade Runner blend, and the second time around the beans were a Kenyan variety. Many times in the past, I have said that Campos is fairly strong in their blends, though not too much for someone who is starting out. That is important to say, since some of their blends are milder and lighter than the usual brew and the Blade Runner blend was one such brew. This had a combination of Ethiopian and Kenyan beans, in which the former influenced the taste profile to be slightly fruitier. Additionally, the intensity was made lighter with it being in filter form; that meant possibly the most relaxing cup of coffee I have ever had. The Kenyan bean was good as well, with it almost being liquid candy the tangerine notes in the beans were agreeable, and made a unique coffee brew that is well recommended. <br/ <br/ Additionally with the second time, I did a case of 'follow the leader ' with my house mate when he went to order a sweet. I can 't fully remember what his choice was; from recollection it was something Russian and might have had coconut in it. My choice was the classic banoffee tart, which always proves to be a winner. Both of these treats were massive, and had to be taken home. They were good enough to look forward to, especially the banoffee tart. A combination of banana, chocolate, and caramel is one I can 't pass up myself, and the sweet biscuit base made it even better. The Russian cake may not have been the absolute best, yet it still proven tasty the texture was thick, slightly rich, and the coconut flavour really came through. A great coffee plus a great sweet is one combination that is hard to top. <br/ <br/ Campos may not necessarily be the king of the beans around these parts, though still after all this time it proves to still be among the best and most consistent blends out there. Adding even more to its reputation, it goes a step further beyond most roasters and has an atmospheric, coffee shop aesthetic that breeds perfection. To put it in short Campos still rules.
Always have great coffee here and occasionally eat. Food is limited but good quick options that do the job. Represents good value and exactly what you look for from this type of venue. If you after a little more of a serious food offering then the original valley roasting house is only a hop and skip away.
Coffee is 5 star however there is always a minimum 15 min wait week mornings. Food is reasonable priced and their dessert/cake cabinet looks very impressive will definitely try their cake one day
Loved most of the cakes at Campos. Coffee here was always nice. Tried some smoothies but didn't like them-too sweet! Service was great-friendly and helpful.
Nice coffee to pick you up in the morning. This place has its vibes. Nice collection of pastries and cakes. Coffee taste good but not exceptional (well everyone is different in term of the taste . Staff are friendly and cheering:
