This hotel absolutely checks the box for a luxury in sweet little downtown Boulder. Before my partner and I located here, I would stay at this hotel for work occasionally, and was rotinely blown away by the opulence of the space, the four poster hotel bed, super comfy btw, and some of the conference spaces on site. There’s nespresso makers in the room, much to my delight! I was so done with hotel coffee machines, except for here! Which when you travel waaay too much has real significance. Only loss is the points collecting. Still worth it!
Luxury hotel in the heart of Boulder walking distance to great restaurants, shopping and hiking. The hotel grounds and interior are gorgeous. The hotel lobby and beautiful bar are chic and a great place to grab a drink and listen to Jazz on the weekends. The hotel staff is attentive and it’s the little things that set this hotel apart turn down service, waters at bedside, excellent food! This will be out go to hotel in Boulder next time we visit!
I’ll start off saying the staff at the hotel is wonderful and very kind, helpful and accommodating. I was ready and planning to love this place and it just fell flat. The hotel is old. I mean old and run down. While it’s hidden in its elegance it’s easy to tell right away when walking into the lobby with cracks in the wall, chips on counters and lackluster paint job on the walls. The rooms are lackluster. The air conditioner barely worked, we set it to 65 degrees and while it got colder it definitely wasn’t 65 plus it gave out an old moldy smell. The carpet looked run down, the porch was not as big as I anticipated and the seats were not comfortable to sit on for long periods of time. The sheets weren’t super soft either. The hotel is huge, just to get to our room we needed to walk down many hallways. On a positive note, the shower was great and we had a large bathroom. While the view was nice, we paid for Mountain View and faced the loud road… this was disappointing. You pay so much you expect excellence and this was not it. I won’t stay here again unless the hotel can modernize itself. There are Hiltons and Marriotts around the corner that are cheaper but give the same experience.
I loved the St Julien when I lived in Boulder years ago — it's a fun place to stay, a great place for events, and the location is tough to beat. But it had been a long time since we stayed there. When we arrived to the hotel today, the lobby was lively and lovely as I remembered. The customer service at reception was phenomenal. When we walked into our suite, though, we were shocked at how dated everything looked. Nothing had changed from what I remembered 10+ years ago, and everything was so much worse for the wear. So 5* for service/location, but 3* for the rooms. For an $800/night suite, which is comparable to a Four Seasons or Ritz, I expect SO much better than tired furniture, yellow walls, dated bathrooms, old fixtures, etc. Your accommodations don't match the price anymore, even if you are still the best in Boulder. I hope you guys renovate soon...it's time.
