Bidrage med feedbackEastern has been around for quite some time now and it's the only Chinese restaurant in the local area to serve a dim sum menu. It's certainly not the best dim sum (there are far superior ones in the city) but it's pretty good for what it is. Don't miss out on the spare ribs or steamed pork buns both are delicious and will leave you craving more. Their regular menu is quite large and reflects the typical choices at a mainstream Chinese establishment. Food is usually very tasty, servings are generous in size and prices are low to moderate for most dishes. A slight annoyance is that I have a huge preference for fiery foods and always ask them to make my dishes super, extra hot, but alas, they always come out mildly hot. Hmm. Also, they don't advertise their boneless spare ribs but they do serve it. Just be sure to ask for it because it's SO much better than their bone in spare ribs. Trust. I've noticed over my recent visits that their Chinese patrons are slowly declining and I'm not exactly sure why. This place used to buzz with them. That's typically not a good sign. But since Eastern is still the only restaurant with a dim sum menu, they'll still get my repeat business.
I live in Silicon Valley, CA where some of the best Chinese food can be found, so when I say the food here is really good, take it as a high compliment. Eastern Palace serves authentic Cantonese cuisine, something really hard to find in Bethlehem. My parents, the ones who live in the Lehigh Valley, are extremely picky about their Chinese food and they love it here. My dad is so particular that he describes the food he wants to the waiter, because he doesn't trust English names. Seriously, what exactly is General Tsao's chicken to a Chinese person? Eastern Palace has been able to deliver on all his descriptions to our complete satisfaction, so we're pretty impressed. We come here every year for our family Christmas dinner. One thing they could try to do is be more consistent with their service. It seems that sometimes they don't have enough staff working. But the food is authentic and good, which makes them a gem in Bethlehem, so they still get 5 stars. And it's a nice enough place to bring a date to. Everything I've had is really good, but these our family favorites: Honey Walnut Shrimp (my Caucasian brother in law LOVES this and so do the rest of us) Lobster with Ginger and Scallions (comes with head to symbolize completeness in Chinese culture) Crispy Skinned Lemon Chicken (not sure if this is on the regular menu or the secret menu, but it's real tasty).
Just ate here for the last time. Food (Dim Sum) was mediocre but the service was terrible. First the owner/waiter got annoyed at refilling our water glasses and threw down the filthy pitcher, you could tell it 's rarely if ever washed, and walked away. Then we were sitting near the door and heard him being so rude to an older woman coming in for lunch alone. Telling her wait wait before she even spoke and walking away. When it came time to pay he wasn 't happy with the tip left by credit card and kept saying the bill $35 to which I replied that 's what you get, you 've been very rude . He just scowled and walked away. Never again, this is no way to do business.
I love Chinese food and especially Dim Sum . The dim sum here was not good at all. Also the server is so so terrible and the guy who served us was so rude and was yelling at everyone and made me feel he was in a rush. This will be the last time I go to this place. Very very terrible and not nice restaurant, do not go there at all
Wish I had read the recent reviews before wasting my time and money today. Surly waiter, terrible service and mediocre food. Never. Ever. Again.
