Bidrage med feedbackThis is the best sushi I have ever had in Baton Rouge. I have tried most of the sushi restaurants in the area and I am extremely impressed. The sushi rolls were incredibly fresh. The service was outstanding, and even my boyfriend, who doesn't like Brussels sprouts, loved the appetizer I ordered. He ate the whole thing. I rate this restaurant 10 out of 10 and it is now my new favorite spot.
The food at this restaurant is consistently excellent. However, the waitstaff seemed to be overwhelmed despite the small number of tables. There were three servers, a bartender, and a hostess for less than 12 tables, which was confusing. It took two different servers 20 minutes to bring us our drinks, and another 15 minutes to take our food order. Despite the slow service, the quality of the food made up for it.
The restaurant had a limited selection of draft beers and the fountain drinks were not fizzy. I mentioned this to our server but she did not offer to replace or take the flat drink off our bill. We decided to just have water instead. The food was delicious, especially the oyster shots. However, the heater seemed to be broken as a few floor heaters were not working in the dining area. It's best to bring a coat if you plan to dine here.
This is a fabulous place for Japanese cuisine. The sushi and other menu items are fresh and delicious.
Food, atmosphere, and service were phenomenal as always. I have been a frequent customer for many years and I have never had a bad experience. Chef Cong really has something special here. There is always something new to try, whether it be an innovative twist on a classic dish or a new fish straight from Japan. Without a doubt, Umami is the best sushi restaurant in Baton Rouge.
