Best Chinese food we have found in Baton Rouge. They give you so much food and it's all delicious. Can't beat their General Tso's. Their Lo Mein is also extremely delicious. Plus, the little family that runs the place makes it that much better.
Love it!. This is my go to place for Chinese takeout. During lunch time they have a serving line special, which is about a dozen or so items to choose from. You get a heaping helping of fried rice or noodles, two 'sides ' (I use quotes b/c its not really a side its a main dish but the portion is smaller than the rice or noodles , and a drink. All for under $7! The food is really good and I 've never been disappointed. I enjoy the pepper chicken I think its the schezaun chicken at lunch time with fried rice. Very filling. When I don 't get the lunch special I like the shrimp with veggies in brown sauce and I always love the fried rice (no egg! , the dragon and phoenix combo is really great too. Oh and when my dad was sick a while ago he loved getting their chicken noodle soup, its got a darker broth than what you usually see, it was hot and filling.
Less is often more.... What appears to be a tiny hole-in-the-wall joint is small, true...but the quality portions of good Chinese food for the price can hardly be beat! It's popular with nearby residents, as can be noticed by the foot traffic in out. The phone rings incessantly. Sounds like good business, non? That's a big YES! If one has the time, it's a nice spot to sit down relax, just don't expect the Ritz. However, one does find tasty Cantonese, as well as spicier Hunan Szechuan styles on the varied menu. Daily specials are listed on a menu board a bargain lunch is also available. One thing not on the menu is Chinese tea, a curious omission, since it IS an Asian restaurant. Perhaps, Baton Rouge is more of a sweet tea town. I don't think you'll find a bad dish on the food list. Ask for something special they'll try their best to make it. Follow the crowd give China Bear a call next time you feel like Chinese eats. It's convenient to most locations in the shopping center right across from Perkins Rowe.
Underrated Chinese Restaurant. I often dine-in here, but it's also a terrific choice for take-out. Their combination plates are affordable, but I love the fact that the food is still piping hot by the time you get home. Great sauces and fresh ingredients, and you can choose the steamed veggies and plain white rice if you're trying to live a bit healthy. I've had most of their beef and chicken based dishes, and haven't had a bad meal there yet. The family that owns the restaurant is super friendly. It's a shame that they don't do delivery, but otherwise it's a terrific place for Chinese to-go food.
