For almost 20 years I have been a staple guest off - formerly as a student guest, now often after the work to the sacker. the choice of beating is the madness. the choice of beer changes and you get real secret tips and tasty served here - especially from the Upper Franconian surrounding. great is also the extensive and varied menu - delicious breakfast offers, great pasta dishes, fine baguettes and changing daily dishes. my favorite: the Italo-Burger. the best burger in the city!Now this is: at my last visit the service has been greatly neglected: I have now had to wait several times between 30-50 minutes for the holiday beer - and this at a local or beer garden not even filled half. it took a long time until someone came to the table at all and then it took time until the (sometimes even wrong) cold drink was delivered to the table. if this fits again, dear off-the-board people, then there are 5 points! thanks to the chef who also spends a little bit of a beacon to compensate, when he realizes that you sit on the dry for a very long time.

We were a group of English guys staying in Bamberg for a weekend of beer, sightseeing & more beer. Bamberg is, of course, the centre of the universe for fans of beer & brewing culture. One of our group found Cafe Abseits on the internet & it was possibly the best find of the weekend. I contacted the proprietor prior to our arrival to warn him of a group of 14 men in need of a hearty breakfast & some local "where to go" info. When we arrived, tables were reserved for us & we were warmly greeted by the owner who proceeded to tell us about the wonderful beer brewing heritage of Bamberg. We were served up a fantastic breakfast - the emphasis was on hearty portions rather than gourmet presentation, but we were all, without exception, greatly impressed by the quality & size of the meal. In addition to the great breakfast, Cafe Abseits has an impressive beer list, focusing mainly on local produce. We were treated to much inside knowledge from the proprietor during our ordering of beer. A man with an obvious passion for his product ! To cap it off, we were offered a sample beer, on the house, of a special beer brewed by a local independant brewer using hops grown by a local farmer. The owner didn't need to spend so much time with this level of personal attention, but he did & we were all blown away by our visit there. It's tucked away a bit, on the wrong side of the train station for most tourists making their way into town. But that only added to it's charm. Highly recommended to anyone with an interest in beer who is visiting this amazing town for the weekend. I could not fault this place & will remain indebted to the owner for such a warm welcome to Bamberg.
