Bidrage med feedbackBeautifully prepared food enjoyed in a mindful way. I first came here for lunch 4 years ago. It blew my mind then and did so again, today. Vegetarian/vegan Korean dishes prepared with love..... you can taste it. A dining experience not to be missed in Auroville. Check it out!
Silent Restaurant, such a beautiful concept. The host is warm and kind. You begin with a short meditation and then the host reads the thought of the day, followed by the explanation of the food. Since you eat in silence you are conscious and mindful of what you are eating. You indulge all your senses and appreciate the colour, texture, aroma and flavours of the food.
What a lovely serene experience with a meditative meal! Though slight on the expensive side for a guest, this meal was a delicious blend of the Korean sides with two types of rice, of course 2 types of kimchi and spicy sauce probably gochujang. There is both table space as well as floor seating and I personally prefer the latter as it is spacious, although it can be quite hot. Couple of things missing in the experience I wish the place was better aerated so that during the unbearable heat there is respite. Second, I wish they had shown us the Korean customary way of eating. Since there was so much variety, I relied on my observations from Korean dramas and used both the spoon and the chopsticks to 'eat like a Korean '. One outstanding item is the soy with a peculiar spring onion like fine sprinkling. Just have the rice and this with a generous sprinkling of the dried seaweed and it won 't disappoint you. Another item that stood out is the string like marinated radish. All in all a beautiful meditative experience!
I very rarely get the urge to write a review after an experience, but this case is different. This is an amazing experience. It is not just about the food, but the love the cook puts in it. Highly recommend.
Goyo is a homestyle vegetarian Korean restaurant in Auroville. Every Thursday, there is an organized lunch where a full three course menu is served. It was an amazing experince of eating homemade Korean lunch like in Korean temples without meat, seafood or egg. Since we are vegetarian, we cherished the opportunity of trying Korean cuisine. The added specialty is that it is a silent restaurant and we are asked to remain silent so we can focus on the food and our inner self. You get a slot by advance reservation and there are limited slots. So do keep that in mind.
