Bidrage med feedbackThe restaurant is usually quite busy on weekends, but the service and food are always outstanding and we never feel rushed. We've tried nearly everything on the menu and have never been disappointed. As someone who moved to Boston from elsewhere, I was thrilled to find scallion pancakes on the menu. The addition of a light and incredibly fresh rock crab salad takes it to the next level. Even my husband now craves it! The lobster rolls and scallop fried rice are fantastic. The oysters are consistently fresh and the selection changes regularly, while the oyster shooters have a nice spicy kick to them. The cocktails are unique, but they also make a delicious Manhattan. Though I usually dislike paying for parking, it's completely worth it for this restaurant.
I have visited this restaurant several times and have always been pleased with the food. Although the oysters were not as flavorful as I had hoped on one occasion, the rest of the food was still delicious. I also enjoy their cocktails.
Husband and I dined here last night and wish we had checked it out ages ago. Sea Bear is located in an old bottling factory, now called The Bottleworks . It 's a really neat location in Athens, a bit removed from the more hectic downtown area. There is parking off Prince, behind the Bottleworks, although the restaurant itself is on Prince Ave. The space is on the smaller side, so this is definitely more of a meet-up date spot, and probably not a great option for large groups, although the menu said they offer catering. The dining area was pretty full, as was the bar, but we were seated right away. The cocktail and beer options looked interesting, but we decided to try a local ginger ale, Ginger 's Bunkhouse Spicy Ginger Ale . The menu has a good mix of small plates and entrees, as well as an impressive selection of oysters. We both loved the roasted local veggie plate that included carrots and turnips. The veggies had a nice char on the outside, and were packed with flavor. We thought about ordering a second plate, but wanted to make sure we had room for all the oysters and the low country boil (Sea Bear 's Thursday special). The low country boil was delicious. The corn on the cob was a little too spicy for my taste (it competed with the spice in the ginger ale), but the shrimp was really good. Sea Bear 's version did not include crawfish, just shrimp, but it was done well and we 're glad we ordered it. The oyster selection was a mix from PEI, NB, MA. We got a sampling of the oyster varieties, and ordered seconds of the St. Anne 's, Glacier Bay, and Thatch. This satisfied our oyster cravings, and we will definitely return.
Oysters... very tasty. food was so fresh. looking forward to returning with my friends. the place has a good atmosphere.
Despite the limitations of COVID, experience was great. We had a nice corner of the patio to have cocktails and wait for an outside table. Oyster shooters are on point with a nice spice to them and cocktails were delicious, even in the plastic vessel. We got used to ordering from the tiki hut and had a nice time. Friday night calamari was nom nom along with the crab cakes and green curry mussels. Highly recommend Seabear for the food, atmosphere and friendly staff.
