Salt & Pepper - Zürich

The food is well prepared and you don't have to wait long to get your meal. Simple and cozy. A beautiful place for lunch or dinner with good price.

It's close to Oerlikon so it's a plus, but that's about where it ended here for lunch on Friday and ordered pasta and pizza. While waiting for our food, the owner had a kind of argument with other customers and it came to the point to scream and throw them out physically. There is no explanation or excuse for the other diners. The pasta came and it was extremely bland, the spinach was boiled to the point of tenderness and the tomato sauce was runny and bland. The pizza was a little better, but not much. 'Death of Chocolate' was tried for dessert, it was just a pretty dry chocolate cake with a cut strawberry garnish. At the end, the employee deliberately left the cake from the receipt, but still the full amount quite worrying as it looks like an attempt to hide some money from the 'real' receipt.

The place is very busy during lunch, but the food is delicious and price also not very high. Good price for money in Zurich

We decided to eat here because of the expensive restaurant in our hotel. This had to be one of the best decisions ever made. The food here is a top standard as you can cook it before you, so you know that it is not just coming from a package. Serves only pizza pasta but we ate here for 2/4 nights we were in Zurich. Excellent taste for food and at a good price also for expensive Switzerland. Would recommend.

Salt Pepper is located one block from the Oerlikon train station. They mostly offer pasta and pizza along with a couple of salads and a few desserts. The pizza and pasta both range between 15.50-19.50CHF, based on their category group. Upon entering, pick-up your tray and utensils and the cashier will hand you a pastic card. Proceed to the counter and order your meal with the card as your purchase is entered into the card. This will be the card you settle your bill with upon departing with the cashier. They do offer a student lunch menu, 10CHF for any basic pasta or pizza. There were all students that visited during my experience. I ordered the penne pasta Bolognese (16.50CHF) and a beverage. The meal was served reasonably prompt and it was a good portion and the taste was just okay. Some of the penne pasta was flattened and a bit rubbery, so I don’t know what the cook had done to cause this. It would have been nice to have offered a small salad or at least a small piece of bread with the meal as part of a lunch special as there is no price difference between the lunch and dinner menu. The dining area is mostly high tables with tall stools and two larger tables at the back of the restaurant. There is an open kitchen for the pasta station. All dishes and utensils have the restaurants labels printed on them. The staff and service was professtional. The restrooms were filthy. The sinks had smudge marks all over the place in both separate bathrooms and one of the restrooms trash bins was over-flowing from the previous day. In recap, my visit was okay but for the price and what you get I would certainly opt for other choices (Franco Pizza Kurrier on the other side of the tracks or Tschingg-one block away) with much better food in the area.
