Grand Songhe Hall - Zhongshan District

Very disappointed with this historical hotel that entertained many foreign VIP. Called the restaurant over a month ago from U.S. to make a reservation, stating my wife and I are coming in March to celebrating our 30 years of anniversary. No sincere greeting upon our arrival. I asked the hostess if we can a table near window as I stated on my reservation a month. No responses from the hostess. We were seated near fire extinguisher by the grand stairway. I was not happy with the location. I asked another gentleman who seem to be part of management if I can get a different table. He said entire restaurant is booked, and he will try to get us seat in a different section but, I would have to wait for at least an hour or longer. He does not seen to have interest of help us on the seating request. We decided to left the restaurant since they would not even attempt to accommodate us.

The food here was ok and average. I came here with family for the buffet and I really liked the location. The waiters were very attentive and the restaurant was clean and beautiful. But the food was way below the quality that I expected; the dishes I had were bland and somehow lacked the wow factor. I would come back again if I see reviewers noticing improvements.

Love their lunch buffets. Must try their roast beef and duck. Crab is too dry, doesn’t seem fresh.

The desert is amazing. Love the chocolate varieties, panna cotta, basque cheese cake. There’s so much food. But their services are not professional. They are too eager in taking away our plates while we’re still eating. They did ask before they take though. But they can be more observant. And they are not careful enough to put away the drinks on our table before adjusting our table legs as the table’s not balanced on the floor. The tables and chairs are a bit wear off

This is a great buffet restaurant. For about 1200NTD or 999 if you bought vouchers you could have all sorts of seafood, meats, and desserts. The selection is fair and the sashimi and vegetables were fresh. On top of that, there is a decent variety of sweets and cakes! The dining hall is also quite large and luxuriously decorated with gigantic red pillars and traditional lanterns.
