Bidrage med feedbackGreat location. Lovely lady at the reception. The room was full of great books and helpful information about the area. We were allowed with a dog and this was fantastic. Great walks around.
Dined here once while staying in the hotel. We had the half pension meal for the night (it happened to be risotto with truffle sauce). It was good, but the portion was not large. And nothing else came with it. The dessert was nice (fruit...and nuts and sauce). The dining room is absolutely beautiful: traditional Swiss style with wood. And its very clean and neat. Service (by the family that runs the hotel) was excellent. If you like Italian food and are not a big eater, I would recommend dining here. Price was fairly high.
We were walking through Zernez, comparing the menus of different restaurants. Hotel Alpina scored best considering Choice+Price+NumberOfGuests. We were surprised by the nice homey atmosphere and nice staff. Even so they serve T-bone steaks, we went for the seasonal venison dishes (the killer argument...was, that they say, they do hunt their meats themselves, which could be quite true). When our dishes arrived, I first thought the waitress mixed our dishes because the hart schnizel I ordered was so tender that it could have been (hart) tenderloin or roe deer...
Had just arrived in zernez and needed somewhere to eat fast. This was the first place we found and it really surprised us. The food was really good and the staff friendly.
May we had train tickets for a day and got on early in the morning in Steckborn, Tg followed the Lake Contance until Austria. Then took train further through the Vereina Tunnel to the Engadine. In Zernez we went to the Alpina Hotel for...lunch. They had local dishes that we enjoyed very much. Engadine nut cake, maluns and capuns. Allegra! Then we went to the National Park Headquarters and museum. They told us what bus to take and where to get off. So we followed the Inn Valley and were glad that someone else was driving! There are a number of well defined paths and parking places. We got out for the view after the park at the Suesom-Give Pass, there is a place to eat there and a hotel and we saw chamois, red deer with huge antlers and we think a bearded vulture flying a long ways away. On the way back we took the train from Pontrasina to Chur thru the UNESCO world heritage valley on the switch back train. Very memorable trip.
