Bidrage med feedbackYou can work up a good appetite after kick biking down Sunnegga - but fortunately we passed by the other restaurants along the way and held out for Othmars Hutte. We had the special of the day - a delicious quiche - and found the service to be excellent, food delicious, and views from the patio are breathtaking! Park your bike or skis and take a time out here for food and drink, you will not be disappointed.
Down the hill on Sunnegga side, at the bottom of the slope at ski or 30minutes walk from Zermatt village to Ried, you will find Othmars Skihütte, Werner and Irene's winter residence. Werner and Irene propose delicious salmon (their own catch in Alaska from the previous season) in various forms! Smoked, as Tartar our cooked, we enjoy it every winter again. My preferred is the "mezo-mezo", a huge salad with smoked and tartar salmon. The restaurant also proposes excellent wine and deserts. Reservation is recommended in high season!
After a great morning of skiing when you need some sustance and ambience and a little rest you come across this oasis on the mountain . Of course the locals all know it and are there in full force the food is wonderful , the beer is ..... What can i say required after 30-40 kms on the mountain .the view is to die for on a sunny day sitting out on the Patio ,the food is wonderful as is the service and ambience ihard to beat . This is Euro skiing at its finest .
Othmar's Skihut was yet again a real treat - we had lunch for a party of 10, with excellent Alaska Variation, Salmon Rosti and many other dishes that together with the always friendly and attentive service make this restaurant such a unique feature of our holidays in Zermatt.
We have been sitting on the terrace that was full (normally it's top) the quality of the foods we liked and this opinion was widely shared by all (totals 10 people) the salmon rösti is a real treat!
