Mong Kok Chinese Cuisine - York

My family and I decided to try out Mong Kok for a birthday dinner on Sunday after hearing about the new owners. We opted for the $240 set meal which included lobster, Beijing duck, Sirloin with choy, walnuts, two fish, fried rice, bone soup, crispy chicken, and Choy sum veggie with mushrooms. The main courses were excellent and the soup was like a broth. After taxes and tips, the total came to $300 for 6 guests. We had plenty of leftovers as we couldn't finish the meal. Despite forgetting the name of the restaurant (which has 3 initials and the word "banquet" in Chinese), the birthday celebration was a happy one. I would give it 4 stars for good service.

The restaurant used to be a great place. The food was delicious and the dining room was nice. The washrooms were surprisingly clean for a Chinese restaurant. However, when I went there recently with friends for dim sum, it had closed down.

We had eaten their food at a meeting of my wife's Hong Kong schoolmates, and it was very good, so we decided that we would do the additional driving on weekends for their dim sum. With our son and his family in the tow, we lost ourselves and were immediately used. The Dimm-Summe service is from Carts that we prefer, and that also offers great entertainment for our 3 years old granddaughter. Excellent variety and tasty, hot dim sum. The price was very reasonable given the quality. And Frank, the manager, was attentive. We will return.

If a party is booked on the night you plan to visit, it is best not to go as there are no separate rooms to escape the noise. We arrived for dinner at 5:30 PM before the party had started, but amateur singers were already using the karaoke machine. Despite complaints from other diners about the noise, the restaurant management only requested the party to lower the volume without enforcing it. This was our cue to leave. If the restaurant had offered a discount voucher for another visit, I would have been able to provide an actual review of their food on Trip Advisor. Unfortunately, that opportunity is now lost.
