Good Catch Boil House - York

Oyster burgers were very good - definitely try it. Soft shell crab burger was interesting and also good. The lobster bisque I would not recommend. If you've ever been to Captain Boil - Good Catch has exactly what Captain Boil has in its menu except much more interesting selections included (ie. oyster burgers, soft shell crab burger, lobster roll, fried rice). Also the prices at Good Catch are lower than those of Captain Boil; reasonably priced. I would definitely return.

While the food was pretty good, the service was awful. For some reason, the server did not provide us with bibs nor gloves, and we didn't realize that it was part of the dining experience until we left and saw other tables had them. We also felt rushed and the server kept coming to our table which was very uncomfortable. It seemed we were treated differently for no apparent reason. The hot lobster roll was ok, but not worth the price. The lobster was very chewy and it only came with one sandwich, while most places will give you two. The Cajun fries and sweet potato fries were delicious, as well as the pound of shrimp. I really wanted to have a good experience here, but can't help but feel singled out and unappreciated by the service.

Good Catch Boil House hasn't been open long, but it's already garnered a lot of attention online and though word of mouth, so you can't fault this restaurant for cashing in on that great buzz, however it's likely to fizzle quickly if something isn't done to appease repeat guests rather than one-time taste-testers.Ambiance:From the outside, Good Catch Boil House doesn't look like much, however as soon as you go through the north doors, you're greeted by a huge statue of Popeye, which I'll admit, is pretty damn cool. After that short nostalgia trip wears off, you'll notice this place is just massive. They have a very large footprint, with family-friendly tables, more intimate booths, a lengthy bar area, and high-top tables -- someone was definitely doing their interior design homework. In terms of vibe, it's kinda like 3 Brewers with a ton of activity and bustle, a fair bit of noise, however it's much more open and bright. Food:Garlic bread: thoroughly uninspired, it's likely the frozen garlic bread from Furlani or D'Italiano that's available at Loblaws. So sad.Calamari: similar to Kelsey's of late, Good Catch marries calamari with different types of peppers to thoroughly confuse how much actual seafood is provided. I'm not a huge fan of this trend, as it doesn't pair particularly well and highlights an obvious lack of value for the consumer.Snow crab: I quite enjoyed my snow crab cooked in lemon garlic sauce and mild spice. I'm not sure whether the crab was from frozen or not, however it tasted pretty fresh, for $18.99 it wasn't a bad value. What I wasn't quite fond of was the add-on brussel sprouts for $5.00 because they were almost raw and inedible and so expensive. If you're already paying premium for seafood, throw in a few seasonal vegetables!Dungeoness crab: My wife ordered the dungeoness crab, which was at market rate and came out to about $36! She had her crab in a curry sauce and medium spice, and also opted for the add-on brussel sprouts, which again, were under-cooked. The curry sauce was interesting for a seafood dish, in this case it worked pretty well.Drinks: $3.60 for a bottle (355ml) of coke? You guys are crazy! What a rip-off. Service:Give credit where it's due, the service here was pretty good. Unsure whether they have too many servers that were just unoccupied and attentive, or whether we got to the restaurant before a busier time.

Great option to dine before or after the movies. Love the space, the quick service, and the prices! Will be going back next week.

We like this restaurant because of the way they present the food is so creative and taste is good too. For 5 people, we ordered shrimp, clam, mussels & lobster with different sauces. We all like the butter garlic. It was interesting that they put each seafood in a plastic bag. We also had salad & fried rice. The price is reasonable. We will definitely go back.
