The Ivy Brasserie - York

We had an amazing time at The Ivy. The food was delicious that we came back the following day. The service was top-notch. Special thanks to our server, Emma, for being so attentive. We truly appreciate how she enhanced our dining experience in York.

The food at this restaurant was very disappointing. The sandwiches were dry, the chocolate flavors were strange, and the combinations were inedible. The service was poor due to the high volume of customers. We were not offered any additional tea or coffee after our initial cup or teapot. The food was brought to our table and then there was no further interaction with the staff. Our table was placed right next to the staff station and felt cramped. The staff seemed disinterested and the music was too loud. The final conversation when paying the bill was inane, and we were surprised by the 12.5% service charge. Overall, our experience was awful.

Enjoyed a lovely lunch with friends. We chose from the 1017 menu which was great value for money. I had the salmon and asparagus racklet followed by the legendary shepherds pie. All beautifully presented with attention to detail. The staff were efficient and friendly as always. Everything was superb. Well gone the Ivy for getting it right.

We went with a view to have a main meal, but ended up having afternoon tea. The service, food and decor was perfect. All the staff were so polite, helpful and so friendly. Definitely going back for a proper meal next time.

My sister and I had a small hen party lunch before my ceremony at this restaurant. The waitress inquired if we were celebrating a special occasion and brought us 2 complimentary champagne flutes when we confirmed. The food was outstanding and our waitress Niamh was very knowledgeable about the menu. We had a delightful conversation with her about her future plans. She is a great asset to the restaurant, so I hope they keep her. The scallops were the best I've ever had, followed by my favorite shepherd's pie. A nice touch was the complimentary dessert. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and we will definitely return. The decor was fabulous as always and comparable to venues in London. Well done to The Ivy.
