Minster Inn - York

The Minster Inn is a classic Edwardian pub located near the city center, offering a comfortable atmosphere while being just far enough away to avoid the tourist crowds. It's only a five-minute walk from my home, so I visit frequently. You can enjoy a pizza in one of the three cozy indoor rooms or relax in the heated outdoor area at the back. They have four vegan pizzas on the menu, and everything I've tried has been delicious. The vegan cheese, in particular, is excellent, which isn't always the case at other places! Additionally, they always have a great selection of craft beers on tap.

The pizza here is consistently delicious, and the vegan options are fantastic. There are plenty of sides available to complement your meal. You'll also find a variety of vegetarian and other options to cater to different tastes. The staff is very friendly and provides great recommendations for drinks and more. I highly recommend the vegan quattro stagioni along with a pint of Sunbeam or Cascade. When we made our reservation (at the end of May 2021), there were many more outdoor tables available that are covered and heated. Although the tables are relatively close together, they adhered to COVID-19 safety guidelines.

Charming old pub that's not too large, which means it fills up quickly and gets quite busy. It's evidently a popular spot, and we can certainly see why. We started our evening in the garden, enjoying some pizza and chili chips, both of which were absolutely delicious. After a while, the crowd thinned out, and we moved inside. The interior was cozy, with its charming vintage decor. The bar staff were friendly, though they were quite busy, so a little patience goes a long way—they're definitely working hard. This pub is definitely worth a visit, especially since it's just outside of town, giving it a lovely local vibe. Price per person: £50–60. Food: 5/5, Service: 4/5, Atmosphere: 5/5.

The pizza here is quite good, and the sweet potato fries are absolutely delightful. There's also a cozy fire to keep warm by. For those with dietary preferences, they offer both vegetarian and vegan options, which my vegetarian and vegan family members really enjoyed. If you have dietary restrictions, you’ll be pleased to know they have a gluten-free pizza base, and the vegan cheese is dairy-free. Prices are reasonable, averaging between £10 and £20 per person. Overall, I’d rate the food a 5, the service a 5, and the atmosphere a 5. Recommended dishes include the Pepperoni Pizza, regular fries, and sweet potato fries.
