Bidrage med feedbackThis charming rustic log cabin inn is a great throwback to a bygone era. Compared to other lodgings I've stayed at in Yellowstone, this place really transports you back in time (Just a heads up: no Internet here). You can almost picture Teddy Roosevelt himself strolling through the halls. The nightly tradition of gathering in the open area, listening to live music, and chatting with other guests is as entertaining to watch as it is to participate in. Staying at this inn is a truly unique experience.
We stayed at this restaurant in May 2023, very early in the season. The historical and nostalgic aspects of the place are definitely worth experiencing. The rooms are smaller than average, but staying in a historic hotel adds to the charm. We stayed in the Old House, which were the first rooms opened in the Inn. There is no in-room bathroom, but there are shared bathrooms and showers available. Everything was very clean and they even offer a free historic tour of the inn, which was very interesting and added to our enjoyment of the stay. The rooms may be smaller, but they are full of history. The Upper Geyser Basin is right outside the building, offering plenty of nearby activities. Just be cautious of the Bison roaming nearby, remember to give them space and stay safe.
Had to come here for a work trip, while the hotel is beautiful, I got put into a room that has no real luxuries and the view from the room was embarrassingly disappointing, considering just beyond it there are dozens of thermal features. Definitely not worth the rate or time to travel to unless you are met with extreme luxuries and complimentary service.
An amazing place. I've heard others seeing it for the first time and can't believe how huge and beautiful the place is. The stone fireplace with a clock. Two floors overlooking the lobby after coming from your room from each wing. An upper deck outside of the second floor to watch Old Faithful and sunrise. Yes there are 2 places to eat, a bar and a gift shop.Rooms: Clean. Comfortable beds.Nearby activities: Places to eat. Gift Shops. Gas and groceries nearby. Walking distance to the Upper Geyser Basin. Old Faithful in view at the inn or walk closer to have a seat waiting for Old Faithful to erupt. One of my favorites is a trail taking you up a hill to overlook Old Faithful Inn and geyser.Safety: Signs warning about the danger of walking off the boardwalks and approaching wildlife. Also supplies you need while hiking to assure your safety and health.Walkability: Mentioned above.Food drinks: If you prefer to have a sit down meal, there's the cafeteria or eat and hike, there's a deli. Or walk to the grocery for food to go.
A must-stay if visiting Yellowstone. The rooms are rustic and small. But the Inn has so much history and charm it is easy to overlook. Evening musical entertainment in the upper hall overlooking the lobby is a must. Sip cocktails from the large deck overlooking Old Faithful. Maybe spot a grazing Bison just in front of the hotel! Great trails through the thermal fields surrounding Old Faithful. Take a tour of the hotel to learn the history. Make your dinner reservations early for the dining room.
