Bidrage med feedbackI ordered a 12 inch Chicken bbq pizza from welcomhotelgrandbay and immediately fell in love with it. It is a thin crust pizza which is completely loaded with chicken toppings and olives. Since it is a five star hotel they take pride in maintaining the quality and hygiene of the food. The most surprising part was it just cost Rs 599 and this pizza is more than enough for two people. I can assure you that it is better than dominos pizza.
We had veg thalis and half way thru we could make out that they lost their touch. The entree was a very oily banana dosa, oily sabudana dosa and oily something else so we didn't have an appetite by the time the main couse started which was a piir selection of veggies- beans porial and the other two were some root veggies deep fried. We had to ask for curd. There was only one poor mans dessert. We had asked for gongura mutton on the side and it was really stringy meat. To be Grand Bay and not beibg particular from where your meat comes from is not worth it.
Absolutely not up to the ITC mark. We ordered their signature thalis Seafood, Non Veg and Veg. Besides the chutney, Papads, Appam and veg starters the food was not up to the mark. Prawn starters excessively salty, the fish out of cold storage having a weird taste. 2 members actually changed the order to a Veg thali which was equally disappointing. The hotel staff were very polite and tried to provide alternatives but really food needs to improve.
Before writing this review I had lunch at this place thrice. Ambience is superb for fine dining. Staff are attentive, especially Mr. Ashok Singh took good care of us. If not for taste I would have given 5 out of 5. Lunch provided as Thali with veg or non veg options. All 3 times I had non veg thali. They served two appetizers in non veg and two more in main course. None of them are worth mentioning. They were just ok. Veg curries and Dessert are good. Hoping non veg dishes taste would improve.
We have been here a couple of times and always tell ourselves that we will try something new, but eventually end up ordering the veg stew appams Idiyappam combo. The rich stew is to die for and finger licking good! On a few occasions, service has been slow, but the food is worth the wait, and in the meanwhile you can munch on their papads and various chutneys (tamarind-peanut and coconut chutney are my faves).
