Penny's Diner - Yampa

Actually did not eat here this trip through. Have it here in the past and it was okay. Off-season now so the 24-hour diner is not open 24 hours to the public but open to customers staying at the attached hotel. Attached hotel Wyndham has two electric car charging ports on site could be of use summon using electrical vehicle in a remote area.

The service we received was fantastic! Although the sign on the door indicates that the restaurant is only for hotel guests, a kind woman served us lunch even though we weren't staying at the hotel. I returned a couple of times, but the other staff members declined to serve us, despite the restaurant being empty. I really wish they would accommodate non-guests when they have the time. Overall, the food was excellent: 5/5, the service was impressive: 5/5, and the atmosphere was delightful: 5/5.

A 24-hour diner in Yampa, CO? Absolutely! The eggs are great and the coffee is pretty good too. Given the location, this place really offers the best you can hope for. It's the perfect spot to fuel up before a long hike in the Flat Tops! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4

Upon our arrival, we noticed only two other cars in the parking lot. As we approached the entrance, we were stunned to read the sign on the door! There was a woman behind the counter, and when my mom inquired if the restaurant was open, she came toward us shouting, “Did you not read the sign?” It turned out that the restaurant was only serving hotel guests. Why doesn’t the website mention this? They should take the restaurant off the website altogether since it's not open to the public. I won’t be driving 96 miles for nothing again.
