Nico's Restaurante - XALAPA-ENRÍQUEZ

This is as homey and family style as it gets, but with some of the best seafood in town. The langostinos como in so many different ways you are spoilt for choice, and everything else is yummy, from the fresh shrimp ready to peel to the fish stew or the garlic and chili octopus. The refried beans, served with lightly fried plantains, are some of the best I have ever had in Mexico. Service is rushed but efficient, which is a small wonder because they are always packed. Nice beer and tequila selection, and the chips with chipotle mayo will keep you munching for hours. No luxuries here, this is a family place that has prospered, their main concession to success are the TVs where you can watch a game. One of my favorites, and not only in Xalapa.

El caldo de mariscos es delicioso, acompañado de tortillas hechas a mano hacen la combinación perfecta.

La comida del restaurante estaba muy sabrosa, aunque los meseros estaban un poco despistados a pesar de que había poca gente ese día. Pedimos platos típicos y nos dejaron solo 4 tortillas para 4 personas, teniendo que esperar bastante tiempo para que nos trajeran más. A pesar de todo, al final quedamos satisfechos.

Platos deliciosos... la presentación carece de contenido en los acompañamientos del plato... se ven vacíos... un poco de lechuga, 2 rodajas de cebolla y una rodaja de jitomate menosprecian el buen sabor del ingrediente principal... una cocina tradicional exquisita... me hizo recordar cuando nuestro padre nos llevaba a los merenderos de los años 70.
