China Star - Wrexham

My husband and I decided to order takeout from this restaurant after reading on their website that they may not be the cheapest, but they are the best. We ordered sesame prawn toast, king prawn balls, and sweet and sour sauce with boiled rice for me, and a mushroom curry with egg fried rice for my husband. Unfortunately, the toast was greasy and chewy, and the prawn balls had a dark grey coating inside the thick, chewy batter. The sweet and sour sauce was extremely bright and not appetizing. My husband's curry seemed to be from a packet mix with added mushrooms, and the egg fried rice was too greasy to eat. It was a costly mistake and we will not be returning. We will be looking for a different Chinese takeout option next time.

Ate from here a few times now and everytime the food has been lovely. I would highly recommend china star. Never waited longer than 10minutes for my order and always enjoyed it. Reasonably priced too.

Ordered £40 worth of food at 8pm, due in one hour. Ring up 1.5 hrs later, they state they've been to the address but no reply. Address has the front door directly in the lounge, no one had knocked the door. We were watching and listening for them. They accused us of having the TV too loud, poor excuse as it wasn't. She said driver beeped, that's a lie. Ordered from these many times never again after accusing us of lying, no one attempted to deliver the food, end of.

Having moved into the area recently, we have been looking for a decent Chinese, and until we found the reviews on China Star, were trying several, which really did not come up to scratch. The only criticism that I would make was that the order was missing one of the sauces that was ordered, but I will put that down to either the telephone order being not heard correctly, or the restaurant being very busy on a Saturday night. Rating the food, it must be 10/10 not only the best I have found locally, but I would also say the best I have found in the UK. A good sized menu which covers most tastes, and the Singapore Vermicelli was to die for. The portion sizes are also very generous, so much so, that next time we will need to order less ! Will be calling them very soon for another order.

We have been frequenting this restaurant since it first opened, and it never fails to impress. The staff are consistently kind and accommodating. Our food always arrives promptly and is tailored to our preferences, such as adding extra spice to certain dishes. We hope to be able to dine in again soon when the restaurant reopens.
