The Whitney House - Worthington

We had brunch on Sunday at The Whitney House to celebrate an 84th birthday. The food was great raves on the French Toast! The service was great Sam was a very attentive server. The ambiance was great. We have not been back to The Whitney House since before their remodel and we were very pleasantly surprised by the updates and the experience. We'll be back soon.

I was at The Whitney House yesterday for lunch with two friends. I think we got the best seat in the house sitting at the front window. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. My one friend had a fish sandwich with chips and it looked good. My other fiend and I had the blackened chicken salad and it was awesome! I want to go back and order it again soon. The ambiance was great with very friendly staff. There was a tavern in the back which I plan on checking out next time.

My boyfriend and I came here per recommendation by some family, but we could not have been more disappointed. We started with the pierogies which were not very hot nor crispy like we expect pierogies to be. Great flavor but plating was uninspired and not worth the $20 for 3. My boyfriend got the salmon which was undercooked and lacked the flavor he was hoping for. The potatoes that came with it felt like they were simply roasted and thrown on the plate without a second thought. Would have liked a char or some sort of seasoning to make it better. Only the tip of the “pan seared salmon” actually had a sear and was overall lackluster. The worst part by far was the Sunday supper bolognese which had such little flavor it felt disrespectful to call it a bolognese. And odd choice to have chives as the garnish instead of parsley, especially if they aren’t adding anything to the flavor profile. Truly can’t believe it was even possible to make a bolognese that bland. After spending around $80 plus tip on the meal we left feeling extremely disappointed and have not been able to stops talking about just how bad it was. Would NOT recommend this place for a date night or any night for that matter. I would like to note that the staff asked us a few times if our food was okay and we did not bring anything up because there were very few people in the restaurant and we didn’t want to cause a scene. Service was great, atmosphere left something to be desired but we were seated by the bar.
