Bidrage med feedbackMy husband and I took This B&B train for our anniversary. Our anniversary was in May but we decided to stay on the train in Oct. hoping to see some Fall Colors. We booked in May but could only get a Thursday night vs a Friday night. We booked first class. There are 3 first class rooms and are in their own car. First class was Boarded first at 5 pm. We settled into our rooms and had some Appetizers waiting for us in the lounge which was at the back of the train car and had a platform outside that we could stand on. The lounge was very comfy and we lucked out with two other couples that were friendly and engaging. Around 6 pm we were called to dinner in our private dining room. We were served a salad that was fresh, buns, a chicken wild rice soup and Then our preordered entre'. We had salmon with asparagus and a 4 cheese ravioli with fresh crisp asparagus. Both entre's were delicious. Free water, ice tea or lemonade was available or cash bar. One of the people in our party asked if we Could look in the engine room where the engineer drives the train. Our waitress said she would ask. The engineer came through and told us he would Bring us to the engine room When we were Done with our dinner. He was try to his word and came back to retrieve us. Since we were in the last train car and the engine was in the front we got to walk The whole train which consisted of the regular bunks, a couple other dining rooms, the kitchen, and a car that held the big generator. We actually got to stand/sit in the engine room for about 30 minutes as the train made its Way to the end of the line. We then walked Back to our first class car and had a delicious turtle cheese cake for Dessert. By 10 pm we were all heading to our tiny bed wondering if we were Going to Be able To sleep. Our room had a couple bottles of water and a small Baggies of Hershey kisses. I don't know if this was a special treat Because we were Celebrating our anniversary or a part of the first class. Our room was warm-80- so first thing we did was turn the heat off and take the extra blanket off The bed. Sleeping on a small Full size bed when you are large and used to a king size bed made for a sleepless night. The other two couples also said they couldn't sleep and one of them ended up sleeping on the floor. We had our own bathroom vs a shared one on the bunk car but the bunks looked more inviting than the small bed in first class. Regardless it was an awesome Experience and the first class Car we were in was beautiful. Coffee and Cookies/donuts were available in our dining room. There were tea bags but unfortunately no hot water. I would suggest letting your server know The night before if you are a Tea Drinker. Were were all visiting in our private lounge waiting for someone to get us For Our buffet breakfast. We finally realized that breakfast was served in the kitchen car so we Headed to that car and brought our plates Back with us to our comfortable private lounge. The breakfast buffet was delicious and included sausage links, bacon. Scrambled eggs, French toast, an Egg Cassoulet, hash browns and biscuits and gravy. We all agreed that we could Travel Around in a car like this except we would Each need our own bed. This train also had people who were Just doing a Dinner Train ride. They also have a family pizza ride and a Christmas holiday ride. It was a great experience and now we are Looking at other train ride venues in others parts of the US.
A fun way to spend an evening with a loved one! We had a great time on the train but the ride is quite short. We didn't realize how little distance you actually travel before parking and reversing back down the track. Meal is amazing. We had such great food that was a huge plus. With the food you get, neither my wife or I could finish it all! Make sure you save room for dessert because that cheesecake is to die for. Beer and wine are very reasonable, fair bar prices I would say. For a couple dinner, and 6 drinks plus tip we ended up spending $151. We will go again.
Something to do but not anything super special. Not easy to know how to order non meat pizza when you order online, no real tutorial or narrative about what we were seeing, and a girl can at least use a glass of wine if I have to sit on a train this long.
This is a quaint, low key, down-to-earth family fun activity. We did the dinner train, a group of 4. The food is home cooking, simple and good, and plenty of it. Full bar on board and the drinks are priced so well. Premium shelf liquor at bargain prices. Wonderful people running it. All very nice and efficient.
Great food and service on the Dinner train ride. Would most definitely do this again. Everyone one the train is having a great time!! Lots of laughter!
