Holiday Buffet By Sunspot - Winter Park

We had a wonderful dining experience for a special occasion, although it was definitely pricey. Our family of four took the gondola to the mountaintop for New Year's Eve, which was thrilling and a new adventure for our daughter. While the food was on the expensive side, it was delicious, and overall, we had a fantastic time.

The Christmas buffet was fantastic! The prime rib and turkey were absolutely delicious. Although the service could have been a bit quicker when it came to refills and getting the check, it didn't really bother me in the end. Nothing beats the blueberry cheesecake for dessert!

The situation was made worse by the harsh weather conditions—strong wind gusts forced the restaurant to close the gondola system, resorting to using only two snowcat vehicles to transport families. Each vehicle could hold only 13 people, and the rides took about 30 minutes, leading to long wait times for many families. While I understand that weather emergencies can occur, the lack of communication from the restaurant manager exacerbated the situation. There was complete chaos trying to secure spots on the snowcat vehicles, and the staff were visibly frustrated due to the manager's indecision about distributing tickets for mountain transport. Given this experience, we will not be returning, and I cannot recommend this restaurant to others.

We chose the menu holiday dinner at $80/plate and not the holiday buffet. that was a four-course menu. but both the suppe and the main dish were served only lukewarm. also the rib eye was very fat and boiled (ordered it med-rare). for the price I would have expected a better attention to these details of the köchen. overall, much overpriced for the meal we receive.

Overall good food and atmosphere. The service was marginal. It seemed a little bit overpriced and said non alcohol drinks were included on the buffet but charged us anyway.
