Bidrage med feedbackVery historic house. Very spacious and well-equipped staff. The food was very good, except the sweet potato laksa (soup) was so salty, could not eat it. Waiting staff is great and very accommodating as they serve our party of 20. It was a challenge for 3 elderly people to come or out with hikers as they chose a route with one or two steps, but overall, a lot of space ADA compliant toilets. There are seating and service upstairs, but did not make it there. The cook also sells a book with recipes from this fine restaurant.
We had a table of 6 for a retirement celebration. The building is beautiful. I was surprised were sat in a very dark corner where the battery candles were not lit. It didn’t even seem busy due to bad weather. The appetizers were great. Due to size I would recommend the bread service and spreads. I ordered the seasonal mojito and it was very sweet my husband ended up finishing it. Food was delicious but portions small. Our server was excellent and made every effort to enhance the experience. We did turn on the candles but the batteries went out shortly after.
This restaurant was very pricey, but in general pretty good. Waitstaff is excellent very friendly, prompt, and considerate. Food looks amazing. However we had to send my wife's plate back as it was extremely over salted. My lamb was served cold(it was a hot dish on the menu) , but I didn't make a big deal out of it since my wife was a bit upset as it was an anniversary/ birthday dinner. For the prices they are charging as a fine dining restaurant I would expect food to be served hot and the chef to have a feel for seasoning . Our waitress told us they had received multiple people's feedback that things were too salty. Thus, the chef seems to feel it's fine and we are just wrong? Doesn't care? I'm not sure... Anyway as it was a pricey restaurant for a special occasion we will try somewhere else next time unfortunately.
Maybe our expectations were too high. The first time I went to Spring House, it was fantastic. This time, not so much. We were seated next to a room that was hosting a party. It was so loud that people from the party actually apologized to us. I had the steak, it was good, not great. My wife had the fish, and it was really good, but such a small portion! She rarely will finish her meal before she is full, but she left hungry. Overall, for what we paid for our meal, we expect more.
Tried Spring House for an early Valentine’s Day meal and left wishing we went somewhere else. Overall, disappointed for the price we paid. The dishes sound unique on the menu, but then don’t follow through in taste at all. Mac and cheese was dry. Lamb was okay, but the feta and couscous tasted off. The duck was mediocre and something I could throw together at home for half the price. Desserts were okay. The butter cake had a unique texture but the apple creme caramel was like bland flan with super chewy “fritters”. Honestly the only thing we actually enjoyed food-wise was the $5 bread basket. Service and ambiance were nice, but the food not so much. The bar area looks unique and promising. May go back for drinks, different appetizers, and bread service only, if at all.
