Salisbury House (portage Parkdale)

I used to love Sals... but now???...I gotta say, the foods still is pretty good...not great...but pretty good at best...it's the price...utterly ridiculous...we just spent $50 for breakfast...3 pan cakes, a couple pieces of bacon, a side of hash browns, the tiniest bowl of French onion soup known to man and a tea...$50...for breakfast...for 2 ppl...are you insane...nope, you're not...its me that's would be insane if I ever went back...sorry, used to like Sals...now you're just somebody that I used to know...Corp greed, alive and thriving in Wpg

Family for supper. Was actually I.pressed with the food.

The first time we tried and we were very disappointed. We went for dinner and the food quality was not the greatest. Price was OK. Service was exceptional. We went a second time to give it another chance for lunch. Food was amazing! Maybe it was an off day when we went the first time. I am glad I went a second time. Recommend the food, price was decent and the service is always amazing.

I had the pleasure of being served by Sherri, a long time employee with the Salisbury House. Since I now live in Victoria, BC; nothing is complete without at least one meal at the Sals. It was just my good fortune that I ate at the Portage and Parkdale location. Sherri found out I was visiting from Victoria, predicted what I was going to order and in typical friendly Manitoba style...she treated me to a slice of graham wafer pie. Wow!! I was so appreciative, I left at generous tip to say thank you. I also found out she is leaving the Sals after 13 years and moving to Selkirk, MB. I wish her well on her new chapter in life. I've eaten here several times. Food is always great. Lately we've been going for their desserts. The carrot cake is really good and packed with raisins. The red velvet cake is the best I've ever had! But I grew up eating the classic chocolate donut which is my all time favourite. Whenever I eat the donut, it brings me back to my childhood. There was a Salisbury House right by my doctor's and my mom always said if my sisters and I were behaved at our appointment, we would get a donut after ?Don't ever change that donut recipe please ??Service is always good and friendly. I've been going to Salusbury house for decades and will continue to do so ?
