Resto Gare And Train Bistro - Winnipeg

The food was amazing, so was the service our server was so funny and attentive. He made the visit so much better. I wish it wasn't as hot as it was inside the train car but they can't really control the sun!

We came for the first time to check out this restaurant but we were disappointed in the service and the food.When we arrived the female server came to get our drink appetizer order and we specified how we wanted drinks with lighter ice. When she brought it to us it wasn't the way we asked for causing it to be watered down with our meal. Next she came to take our order and no mention of the specials that we heard the other servers saying to others till we asked what we overheard. So one of them we ordered was the prime rib that was the special and specified we wanted it well done. Once again she brings it out without checking which we mentioned please take it back we want it more than med rare. Meanwhile one of us were left with a meal to eat ourselves which we asked another lady if she could keep it warm while the other is being prepared. We got them both back to only have the prime rib on the colder side. After the meal was done we figure we would have been asked for dessert and coffee which I thought they didn't have as no mention but heard they do serve it. Very poor service for what we figure would have been a higher quality meal. Very disappointed as this was a special day for us.

I had a great time at Resto Gare. The patio is very nice, with good seating and shade. I went with the escargot and mac n cheese with white truffle. The escargot was cooked perfectly, with melt in your mouth texture and great flavor. The mac n cheese was my favorite, cooked al dente and not overpowering truffle flavor. The sangria was a little too sweet to my taste. Our waiter was very nice and gave us great service. I will definitely come back again and would like to try the seating in the train car.

This is a perennial favourite of mine to take out of town guests. Lunch is always a winner. It certainly has a feel of comfort with a massive zing of exquisitely perfectly presented and planned daily specials.Thank you for consistently keeping the bar high.

Perfect date night with the option of dining in an amazing old train car, outside patio or in a gorgeous dining room. Food was spectacular! We had the special prime rib with Yorkshire pudding. Parking is tight, but they worked with the area that they got!
