Bidrage med feedbackUpdate: Doug and Betty's has recently expanded their selection of vegan ice cream options. On my most recent visit, they offered a total of 10 vegan ice cream and sorbet flavors. If you are looking for vegan meal options, the choices are more limited. They have a clearly labeled vegan hot dog and occasionally offer vegan soup, but other vegan dishes are not clearly marked on the menu. (There was a rice bowl that did not list any animal products, but I did not confirm if it was truly vegan as the menu did not specify either way.) This review was updated on 2020-09-02.
I believe this restaurant offers the best vegan ice cream in the city. While I wish they had more flavor options, the ones they do have are thoughtful and delicious.
I really enjoyed the coconut chocolate fudge and oreo desserts, but the vegan cookie dough was lacking in flavor. It was overly sweet and didn't have much taste.

If you're in Winnipeg and craving a large serving of ice cream, Doug and Betty's is the place to go. However, if you're in the mood for delicious vegan ice cream, this may not be the spot for you as options are limited. I was disappointed to find there was no vegan chocolate ice cream available, but I did try the vegan keksteig soy dark chocolate caramel which was quite tasty. All menu items are clearly labeled as gluten-free, vegan, and/or dairy-free. The open seating area provides ample space to enjoy your ice cream on a hot summer's day. Though I have never been inside the building, others have and have reported positive experiences.
