The Royal Oak - Wiltshire

Popped in here for a coffee after a dog walk. I was going to have light lunch but instead saw the Sunday lunch offering. Well I was impressed the roast beef was very nice and the vegetables cooked to perfection. Great gravy and all for £12?? Wow highly recommend this place. And the service was spot on.

We visited this restaurant on a Sunday afternoon and ordered four different meals: beef roast, Hunters chicken with chips, Beef and Ale pie with mashed potatoes and green vegetables, and Chicken and Mushroom pie with chips. All of the meals were beautifully presented with generous portions. The beef in the roast was a bit tough, but the gravy was delicious. The staff were very accommodating and the prices for both the meals and drinks were reasonable. We will definitely visit this restaurant again when we are in the area.

We accidentally ended up at this restaurant after a navigation error, but decided to stay for dinner despite being 10 miles off course. It turned out to be a mistake. I usually order steak but opted for the homemade steak and ale pie this time. However, it was not a traditional pie as it had a puff pastry top with only a few pieces of steak, onions, and carrots in a watery gravy beneath. The new potatoes I chose had the skin on, which I would have preferred to know in advance. The fresh vegetables were not fresh, with the cauliflower being particularly bad. The instant gravy provided was also watery. I ended up only eating the steak from the dish and nothing else. My husband had ham, egg, and chips, with the chips being frozen and the ham from a packet. We will not be returning to this restaurant for a meal in the future.

The staff is fantastic, the beer selection is fabulous, and the garden is lovely. The food is absolutely delicious and the venue is top-notch. It's the best place in Marlborough to enjoy a drink, with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

Today I came to this lovely pub for a meal. The ambience was delightful. The staff couldn’t be more helpful, the food was delicious and the wide selection of drinks was lovely to see. The landlord greeted us which was very welcoming. 5 stars
