Bidrage med feedbackBeautiful interior decor. Make sure to take a tour (guided or self guided! around the place to see all the hidden artifacts! If you need a small escape from the everyday this is the place. The food was all delicious and the drinks were gorgeous and went down easy. Bring your spirit of adventure and some good company, put your cell phone down, and enjoy the experience! Our waitress was super sweet. We even asked to move to a booth because it seemed a bit more private and we could view the amazing room better and she happily obliged.
As a tiki aficionado, I can't stress enough how impressed I was with The Sorrow Drowner. This place takes authentic tiki adventure club to the next level. It was almost more a museum than a bar. The cocktails were delicious and true to craft cocktail tiki style (and though the prices were spot on with what I've experienced at quality tiki bars around the country). The owner, Alfred, took some time to chat about his inspiration and backstory of The Sorrow Drowner's creation. You can tell how passionate they are about what they have created. Our server made some excellent recommendations for both drinks and food. The ambience was incredible. Ten out of ten, could not recommend more.
Wow! I mean… wow! Just an unbelievable space. This is the kind of bar you might expect in a place like New York or Vegas (and even there it would be something special! but for it to be tucked away in this unassuming yellow building in Wilmington, words cannot… Fantastic (and strong! tiki drinks, they juice fresh and make their own syrups. Pupu platter was fun, if not the healthiest food in the world but damn was it tasty! This is on par with any of the world class tiki bars out in California, it’s definitely worth a visit or five. I found my new watering hole!!
Set up a reservation through their web page for 7 pm. Drove over an hour to get there an the place was closed.
Places like this are so rare. As soon as we heard they were open, we made the 2.5 hour trip down to Wilmington to check it out. Cool place! Not just a tiki and grass skirt to call it a Tiki Bar. It is a full fledged adventure. Great drinks. The menu is limited but what we ordered was really good. We talked with the owner a while. Everyone there was friendly. Great night out. I'm sure we'll be back. We've been to Tiki restaurants in CA and throughout the South Pacific. Glad to see one here in NC!
