The Stonecross - Wigan

Simple parking lot much space and a very nice greeting. simple and ordered sawed. eating arrived immediately and it was from a good standard to a good price compared to some places. everything was satisfactory and the personal was excellent and very...friendly only a moan was the terrible background music that I am a miserable old xxx, but was a bit loud, but the actual tracks were really poor. dreadful stuff lets have some nice tranquiling music.

After a long journey to the nearby Premier Inn, our family was eager for a nice meal at the restaurant. We had made a reservation for 7pm. Our daughter has a milk allergy, but after checking the menu beforehand, we saw that there were several suitable options for her. However, when we finally placed our orders, we were informed that her first choice of meal was unavailable. We made an alternative selection, only to be told that it was also unavailable. Our drinks were served, but I received a lemonade shandy instead of the lager I had ordered. The food took a long time to arrive and when it did, it was only mediocre. The side of baked beans seemed to have very few beans and more like a bean sauce. After the main course, my youngest daughter and wife went back to the hotel still hungry as it was already after 9pm. My oldest daughter and I decided to stay for dessert, since it had been prepaid as part of the Premier Inn meal deal. We are still waiting for our plates to be collected so that we can order dessert. It has been nearly two and a half hours since we sat down, and I am writing this review out of sheer boredom. We will not be returning to this restaurant.

I always leave happy when I have visited the stonecross. Once again , lovely meals and even better service from the girls. I always feel well looked after and you can't beat the friendly atmosphere created there. I had the sirloin steak and it was...cooked to perfection. I can't wait to come back !

We were served a cold pint of Guinness and a large glass of white wine. The standout dish was the beautifully presented mushroom with crumbling starter. The fish and chips were average. Overall, worth a visit and we will definitely be returning.
