Bidrage med feedbackAs a healthcare worker 16 hour shifts, I really wanted to step it up a few notches and recieve the whole nine yards with the going out to dinner experience.This was a home run, my niece and I showed up to the front door where Shannon opened the door for us and greeted me by name per the reservation I made online). That was the start of a wonderful relaxing and fully catered to dining experience. We went all out with the 24 oz porter house, the sides, the cocktails, the desert. Everything just delish!!!And very calm quiet atmosphere, beautiful inside. We were given hot towels for our hands after all said and done. We were never hurried to pay, or felt like we were holding people from leaving to get home.Vegetarian options: The roasted Brussels sprouts. The vegetable medley from the local supplierCaesar saladParking: On Johnson in white Rock. The tree lined street had white lites. Really pretty area.
Had a fantastic date night. First time we have been and the food was amazing (bone in ribeye, Gorgonzola mashed potatoes, Brussels in honey, . All were cooked to perfection and we loved their a la cartel steak menu so we could personalize our experience.My husband adored the prawn appetizer and stuffed garlic bread (think delicious mini parcels of flavour along with his smoked old fashioned.The service was excellent so much that we realized what poor service we were getting other places attentive but not overwhelming.Highly recommend we will be back.
Had a mixed experience here for Valentines day with my wife. Made the online reservation which only permitted selection of a set menu for $95/person which I was fine with. We arrived and service was ok , but I wouldn 't say fantastic. Anyways, when we finished our meal and they brought the bill I didn 't even look at as I was expecting the set menu pricing as per the online booking and the Valentines day menu on their website....however..what happened next turned into an awkward conversation with the server who essentially was begging for a tip because they didn 't charge the set menu price. She stated it was a mistake on the website because the person who created the menu doesn 't work there anymore . So we put through another charge for her tip and left feeling confused. That interaction effectively soured our experience and evening at the Onyx steakhouse.I feel that Onyx dropped the ball on this. They could easily have had someone update the website/menu to reflect accurate pricing. More importantly they could have advised customers at check-in for their reservation that the Valentines day set menu pricing is not in effect, to avoid these types of confusing and awkward encounters both for the customers and their employees. I 'm sure other people who attended for Valentines day had similar experiences. We likely won 't return here which is a shame because previous visits to Onyx were great.
Food was delicious best steak I’ve had in three years cooked to perfection. The ambience was very pleasing perfect for a night out with the wife or significant other.
What a terrible experience we had on valentines. We had booked weeks in advance as it’s labeled a “steak house”. We get there and it’s a set menu for 95$ per person taxes and grat included with minimal options. We had no idea as we looked at the regular menu when we booked weeks prior and were super happy with all of the options. The menu options were terrible and sooo expensive…. A 5oz steak and an appy small salad) with a shared “small” cup of dessert for 95$. We were NOT happy from the time we sat down to the time our meal came. Steak was dry and extremely small 5oz) the desserts were not settled yet and completely liquidated. Ugh first time going to this place and will definitely be the last. Go to an actual steak house and not this place if you want an affordable juicy steak that is reasonably priced. This place took advantage of it being Valentine’s Day with an outrageous menu price and minimal food. We heard tables beside us complain also saying i was here last week and want that menu It was awful! What a terrible experience and I wish I didn’t book here because I will never go back now.Note to staff: don’t do set menus, you weren’t busy enough and the place is small. You simply did it out of laziness and ripping off customers. There was absolutely no need for a set menu on a Wednesday night. I’m sure you’re busier than that on the weekends with regular menu and do just fine. We felt taken advantage of and nobody told us there would be a set menu when we booked weeks in advance. Many people seemed upset about the menu options and cost !!! Just don’t book here …. Ugh and the food was not seasoned at all. We had to ask for salt and pepper just to eat the steaks. Not happy and wish I never went here .. ;
