Hu Nan Chinese Restaurant - Whitby

Super disappointed. We have been going here for years (8+ and always loved it. Over the last year or so we have noticed a significant change in food taste and quality. Tonight was the last time we will ever go. We ordered general tso....it had no taste. We also ordered sesame chicken.... again zero taste. In fact the 2 chicken options tasted the exact same! The chicken fried rice is now garbage. It was clumpy, greasy and had no chicken. The whole meal was a waste of money. So disappointing as they were exceptional back in the day. There goes 8+ years of support. We need to start looking for another place.

I'm surprised this place is ranked 11th. We ordered 2 different rice dishes and 3 different meat dishes and each one was just as good as the other, it's our new staple for Chinese takeout.

My family adores this restaurant and we always order the dinner for five. Our favorite dish is the General Tso's chicken. This is our top choice restaurant.

Hu Nan is decent. They have a decent menu with large portions. However, the quality of the food is just average. I tried both the General Tao Chicken and the Chilli Chicken and they tasted very similar, I couldn't distinguish between them. The Ginger Beef was tasty though. I wasn't a fan of the Pad Thai. The food was delivered quickly and arrived hot. It's an alright choice, but there are definitely better options in Durham.

Kids love the food here. Portions were large. Food tasted great. Price was about average to what it would cost in Toronto. Very close to what I am used to having in Toronto.
